HEY!..GET OUTTA MY TREE!
A photo of my favorite MX racer back in the day (1976 Maico 400). Went on into some street stuff later, Honda 750 and then a Suzuki GS1000, that I setup as a superbike style road machine. Wish I still had it :upset:. Matter of fact, wish I still had the Maico and Husky....they're collectibles now!

I was in the Marine Corps stationed in Hawaii celebrating the bicentennial in glorious fashion downtown Honolulu...I also got married that year so 1976 is one of my most memorable years... I know most of these guys weren't even born yet and cant relate to how life was then compared to now.

In 1976 i was in boot camp for the navy. For the 4th of July Bicentennial, everybody at Great Lakes Navy Bases went to Soldier Field in Chicago and put on Red, Blue and White plastic bags and formed the American flag. A plane flew over the field and took pics of it. In 1978 i rode a Harley for the 1st time, a friends Harley chopper 49 Panhead. There was a place in the Phillipines called Tobys, where you could buy a HD 45s, Flatheads, Knucklheads, Panheads and Indian Warriors or Chiefs. $600 for engine and trans or $1200 for whole bike. Got informed real quick to forget the whole bike, but i did buy a engine and trans.
