I need to purchase a new Video Camera and don't have a clue as to which one would be the best for videoing R/C airplanes.....your suggestion(s)............I'd like to keep the price 'reasonable' for this part-time use.

Thanks,

I personally really like the Mobius Action camera. Use the mount it came with and a 1/4"x20 bolt and bolt it to a old hat and it makes the perfect hat camera. Here is a video I shot with mine. Excuse the crash at the end LOL

I have not shopped for one for a while, but for filming a flight from the ground, you would need one with a zoom, and a view finder: it can be challenging to shoot on a bright sunny day without the view finder.
HD camera prices should be dropping soon: I just read that all the manufacturers of video equipment (TV, camera, player, etc) are now all going to 4K.

The little non zoom cameras even gopro really are bad for video of an actual flight. I got TheLAW a Sony handycam HD camera with great zoom functions for a few hundred bucks. She loves it and does great vids in all light conditions.

Yeah, just got a Canon HD Vixia with a nice zoom and it works great. Very nice pictures once you look at the video on an HD screen. You can't tell how nice they will be when looking at the previews on the side screen of the camera. Got it at Costco for under three bills.
