Just spoke to the LHS and confirmed that the plane is on order and will be arriving before next Friday I hope. Just ordered a special cable from DFA/JR for the ESC and two additional servos for XBus system. Excited new radio, plane and electric drive system.

Got the XCub spring gear in the mail. Axels are enormous 5/16” so they do not fit my enormous PR Bushwheels... go figure. I have some 1/4” axels... oh go figure again... just barely over 1/4”!! Do not fit.
Went to the hardware store, found some 1/4” plated bolts, and a couple bronze sleeves. Bolts fit the PRs perfectly. Sleeves are ok, and fit in the xcub gear ok. I’m thinking a little hysol job may do the trick.

So Horizon cancelled my order... :cryin: and told me to reorder and ship FedEx Ground. Gotta love playing the game... So it's been re-ordered for a third time. Third times the charm!??!:ugh!:

Why do you need to keep reordering the plane.

Why do you need to keep reordering the plane.
Because I WANT:In_love: WANT :In_love:WANT!!! :In_love::lol2:

I had my buddy at the LHS put one on his next order in June, Horizon posted them for sale online a few days ago, I called my buddy to make sure they put one on reserve for me... to find out that his request was bumped to the end of August (might have been pre-mature) but we decided it was cheaper to order online in the end and his profit margin wasn't all that great anyways... plus it would be dropped shipped to a barge, and show up a week or two after that in which other fees are included. Attempt #1 :oblong:
So Horizon posted this puppy online with super cheap quick 2-day shipping with no stipulations attached. Sweet, too good to be true? My buddy looked it up too and was like huh, do it. So the plane remains in his queue so I can see if it works. It took 1.5 business days for them to cancel my order (did not call me, just got an e-mail) and then to tell me to use ground instead because shipping was impossible for Alaska. Attempt #2:confused: :ugh!:
So I've re-ordered using their new method (wasn't an option before), e-mailed back to the cancellation e-mail about the order, and spent 25min on hold over the phone before entering the call back button... that was two hours ago. still no response.
Attempt #3 :cautious:
Well see what happens here..... Assss I'm writing this... Got a phone call back. Said everything looks good and will ship out today!!:grouphug: So well see if they actually do.... $18 shipped.:ooh?:

Looks like living in Alaska is almost as bad as Canada when it comes to getting stuff.

Played with my XCub gear. Keeping in mind this gear is an optional add on for the timber. After viewing the silver painted gear Ali did with the PRs in the promo video, I elected to do something similar.
I found some rustoleum “Carbon Mist” spray paint. Don’t shoot me @Jetpainter we’ll see it holds up.

Axels being fabricated from 1/4” zinc plated bolts.

Made a little slot for the wheel collar.

Showing where the bushings are, thinking I may put a bolt through instead of the grub bolts

Oh boy, sanding!

They did a pretty good job....

It appears this is a decal, way too sticky. Color even transferred to the paint. What a pain.

Springs exposed from the spring gear.

A little out of place, but I hysol’d the bushings in place. And since there was a little wiggle room I coated the outside a bit. I suppose I could hysol the whole shibang but just in case I need to replace them?

And there’s the painted product. Going to let that cure up for a few days before doing anything else. The downside to using this product... should have used a lacquer based product... oh well!

Bazinga! Enter the "Timber 110":mario-banana:. Looking at a Pilot Decathlon as well. :ugh!: Decisions....Decisions....

Maybe best I just leave the engine on the shelf .

That would be stupid silly power and probably too much engine up front since it supposedly weighs 2/3lb more than the DLE55. If you kept the gear light and moved as much as possible aft, you'd have a literal rocket ship on your hands!! I'm sure the plane can take it.
