The cabane handle is done, I tried bolt's, hook's, wire, but the most feasible method for securing the wire's for transport was hook and loop, yea Velcro. Quick and easy!
Might get it out later for a test run, need to check the fuel and smoke system for function and leaks.

Looks like another one is ready for its maiden flight. Good luck with it and take your time and only fly if you are ready and not the rest of the people around you.

Maiden day has come and been completed. All of my concerns went out the window when it gently lifted off the runway with only a slight roll to the left and a tad bit of a nose high climb. Three clicks right and four clicks down and it was cruising straight and level. Then I rolled it over to check balance and took half the field to drop enough to correct. I then pulled into an upline it went straight and clean, rolled over for inverted upline and it was the same as level inverted. So next I did a couple loops, roll's, half Cuban's, large aerobatic turns, and it handled it as smoothly as anyone could want. Going out again tomorrow and will get a little more aggressive with it. I am very pleased with how it has performed and look forward to many more flights.... Woo Hoo!!

Looks like you like the plane. Congratulations on the maiden flight.
Have a question how does the Ultimate compare to Pitts. I know the question is to soon I will have to wait, the reason I ask is that I have had a couple of Ultimate planes but never a Pitts, interested in you assessment.

You mentioned that you you may get a bigger one. That is interesting how big and from whom. Pau does not sell a bigger one.

Not saying anything more until it is in hand.
As for comparing the Ultimate and Pitts, depends on which version. This PAU Ultimate has a thinner airfoil and smoother lines than a standard Pitts so it flies a little faster. The control surface's are also bigger than a standard Pitts so it is more aggressive at maneuvers. Now compared to the Challenger with it's larger control surfaces and thinner airfoil it is somewhat similar. Another difference and probably the most notable is the distance from the bottom wing to the top wing of the Ultimate. That larger separation give's the Ultimate a more stable envelope, less turbulence between the wings. I have viewed this difference before with onboard video where the canopy is centered. The Pitts canopy rattles like crazy whereas the Ultimate does not. Then add in that the Ultimate has a longer fuse which makes for better line's.
So, I would have to say that all in all the Ultimate in general is the better flier, it is cleaner, smoother, and more aggressive. But the Pitts is by far the better looking one.
