As some of you may have heard by now, Spektrum RC and Horizon Hobby are recalling certain DX-20 transmitters for a problem that “was found not to meet Horizon Hobby’s quality expectations.”

While we at Fly RC are not prvy to exactly what the issue is with these transmitters, we would advise all owners of them to check the link below to see if your DX-20 is among those with a PID number designating it recall worthy. Follow the instructions as to how you can get your radio serviced so you can get back in the air with a quickness.

Not prvy to the design flaw for the recal? I guess Horizon is no long prvy to my Customer loyalty. Not a good way to build Customer confidence.

I've seen the results. Friend of mine lost a giant scale warbird and almost a 100cc 3d plane (wise enough to land it right away). He now switched to Futaba.

By not telling folks what the problem is (simple honesty), many customers will abandon this ship. Sad but true. My buddy called to check on his and they would only tell him they had a standard of quality and it needed to be checked. What a load of BS to be giving knowledgeable adults.

Fortunately Futaba is not having these issues, but, they are leaving the lower tier Tx's and Rx's in pursuit of the top tier. I have their T8FG upgraded to the 14 but the Rx's are now limited. Mine is getting weathered and probably by end of the year I will want a new one. I am leaning towards Jeti, look's like they have some real nice equipment with a larger selection of both capability and Rx's.

Sent mine back 1.5 weeks ago, it was received a week ago today.
Called to check on the status, was told it is a 6 day turn around.
I also was told that it goes to the end of the line as if it was a regular repair.
I could see if I sent something in that was not under warranty, this is a friggin RECALL on their top of the line TX !
If I did not have all the Spektrum Rx stuff I'd switch right now.
I specifically asked to talk to a tech. and I was told that they will try to direct me to the tech that will have worked on it when it's done.
Not to happy with HH at all.
I will revise this post when and if I can speak to the HH tech.

Happy flying

What really sucks is it is a bit difficult to be in this hobby and not have to purchase items that run through or from Horizon or Hobbico. But I do the best I can to avoid either one of those Monster suppliers, and do pretty good at it all things considered.

I switched to Futaba last year, several of the guys I fly with use Spektrum and they have all lost planes to "loss of control". I don't care what brand I fly but from what I have seen at fly-in's and contests Futaba seems to be the most trouble free by far.
It's just not worth losing a model over radio failure, if I screw up and crash one then I can learn from the incident and hopefully prevent it in the future.

I have had Spektrum since the DX18 came out and has been a very good TX for me, prior TX stuff was JR for may years, and when JR shifted to their new format I said no I was not buying all new RXs, so I went to the 18.

I would really be interested to see how many of these DX20 TXs are out there, due to all the BS with advertisement for over a year, and HH putting off the ship date time after time I am thinking there can't be many, maybe 300 units in the US.
