Sunday is Funday. Time to get a good tune on that engine.

Good luck, I got to fly mine for the first time this week on ES pipes. Not much gained on the top like Joe said I'd probably expect but the mid range was really really nice. I rang the stink out of it for one flight but after landing I leaned I need to make a tray to get the RX further above the pipes. Looking forward to flying it more fo sho!!!!!!!!

Mine was too lean from late last year. But i fixed it up so that I can twist them little screws.

I feel rear induction tunes a smidge different than front or bottom induction.....

Yes indeed, after 7 gallons on muffs I actually had to richen my H needle when I installed the pipes. Top RPM was nice but holding it for 20 seconds or so it would start to fall off. Sure was nice in the air though! Good luck man:way_to_go:

Went from screaming the prop to barely able to turn 5K. I did richen the engine up considerably. The L needle is right in there, but the Hi needle...... Seems like it wont lean out...

We are also 25F warmer than it was back in March when I first ran this engine.

Rocked the prop, 15x, flipped it 4, choke off 3 flips and it runs.

Couldnt do too much with it, since momma is working today, and my friends from out of state left at noon. Just got my only flight in just 25 mins ago, playing daddy duties

What prop you runnin? I was getting mid 6k with a 28x9.5 but was a tad lean so I richened it up to keep the tune, settled in on mid 62-6300 so I could wring the stupid out of it and not get it hot. I admittedly don't know jack about header lengths and all that stuff so I went with the average people were using of 14"

Same as you, 28x9.5. Stock length DA 100 headers. Chad Wilson if TDRC was amazed at how it flew back in March, up til the deadstick landing.

Back to the drawing board. Im gonna pull the engine and clean up the carb, and start back at recommended starting points. Gonna be awhile on that. Taking my Dalton and Carden to BG, KY to be painted at the end of the month.

I think TBrum was running 14.5 inch headers with the ES pipes.

The engine might be a little more prone to getting hot if the headers are shorter than the peak RPM length.

Hows the midrange compared to mufflers?

With the 7 minute flight I made Sunday, the midrange is pretty spot on. And quite honestly, I haven't run the engine on mufflers, and really don't wanna. The engine actually unloaded in the air in slight dives, so its not overheating.
