Anyone know of videos of the 2014 sequences?

The www.mini-iac site has 2013 videos but nothing for 2014 - searching you tube has not yielded anything either.

I know what my sequence looks like - might be nice to compare to one done "right"

:)
alawson999 I checked with Bill James, former IMAC board member and producer of IMAC Pro app. Unfortunately it looks like no video of the 2014 Basic this year. However the 2013 is a good reference and so is the Basic Judging criteria PDF found on the IMAC training page. It breaks down each maneuver and the way it is judged. A wonderful job.
Check out the app if you haven't, it has some real nice features.

TY - I have found the app to be most helpful.

Review of the judging criteria is a great suggestion, I will try it

Thx for the help

No worries. I forgot are you on RF 6.5? If so look for multi sessions "NH 3D XA IMAC"
That "2014 Judging (PDF) is at the bottom of the training page under "online presentations. Good sim wind correction vids too. It's great that you are working in precision flying. You will love the results on all your flying.

RF 7 - will look to see if it is compatible - thx

I don't think it is. Hint for practice on it. Use an open field like sod farm. Zoom in so you can concentrate on the attitude. I use the "trails" in the view to make a black and white ribbon on the wingtips. You can set a base line with a "trim pass" then use the ribbons to check your symmetry.
When you finish 2 sequences see if you can orient yourself to the runway. Having it zoomed not only helps see the aircraft better but works on your special orientation and position awareness. If your base line is low enough to make out tree tops those will make cues for your position.

Congrats to the USA F3A championship

I notice that the picture of the US F3A team in model aviation
Has two unexpected aspects that I would like to understand better.

1) airframes - two mid wing monoplanes are joined by two biplanes. Granted my skills are trivial compared to these guys, but I found bikes to be more difficult to fly precisely - clearly I am mistaken - In sights please?
2) Prop drive - one contra rotating double and 3 single prop setups - I know P factor is negated by contra at expense of weight - what else goes into the choice of one versus the other?

Bipes vs mono. Well, of course it's personal. However think Catamaran! More symetrical airfoils (properly setup with accurate incidence- can be difficult) the better lines you can fly. However it comes at a cost of increased drag and weight. The Ultra has been a mainstay in precision bipes as well as the "pattern bipes" that are in the photo. I'm not too familiar with them but I'm sure they are on rails too.
The prop question I'll have to pass on. No experience or knowledge on the counter rotators on singles.

I'm sure others can give more specific insight but this is a start.

As for the counter rotating, it is really preference. Some people like having no p-factor to compensate for, even though it may increase weight. It is a very careful balance to meet weight requirements while still getting optimum performance.

Maybe Brian Yak Dude can comment in this.

i saw that Andrew got second even though USA got first. Lil Joe did pretty well too. Awesome to see his long trek to South Africa yield some impressive results for such a young pilot. He and his dad are good people!!!
