Removing black yuck from DLE-30

Hey guys,

I've got a DLE-30 torn down for the Bowman ring and other tricks, but the inside of it is just disgusting. Well, actually, it's only half disgusting since one half of it is fairly clean!

What would y'all suggest as the best way to remove that carbon(?) or should I bother? The top of the piston looks about the same, though I didn't take a picture of that.

OK, I made a command decision. Since a bolt hole is stripped, I just ordered a new cylinder (despite having already ordered helicoils).
I guess I should have looked inside before I ordered the helicoils! :facepalm:

Maybe some awesome and let it soak to break it up.

Old post but...........


Put a spare plug in the cylnder and let it soak with brake cleaner. Works great, don't forget to add oil back to cylinder before re install.
