AJ Laser 230z 73" Build Thread

Nope haven't tried that yet. Going back out to the field tomorrow I'll tinker with it then. It's just flying so sweet, I really don't want to fool with to much.

I thought it was 1.5 on the ailerons. I have 1.25 on there now and I come up a little short on throw for the high rate.

As a matter of fact I flew mine today. It makes me look good. Tracked on rails. I have about 3 gallons of fuel through the motor.

AJ Laser 230z 73" Build Thread

Flew the Laser today. I had one of the more experienced pilots at the field do the shake down flight. All, I can say is WOW. This thing tracks on rails whether on knife edge or on vertical lines. The engine (a DA35) performed excellent, lots of power. I will need to tweak the low rates on...

One last thing, those two holes next to the muffler pipe exits, that was my goof up. I transferred the holes wrong when I was tracing them out for cutting. Tomorrow, you will never know they were there:)

Here are some pics on the business end of the plane. I am using a Ultra IBEC for getting power to the ignition. I attempted to show the pushrod working the choke (it exits the right lower side of the cowl). I drilled an access hole in the cowl, and inserted a grommet to keep the rod from...

No flights yet. Work schedule and our deluge of rain here has not allowed it, the field had a out 3 inches of standing water. I had an interesting time fitting the cowl with the DA35. Finally got it. I installed the Jtec Pitts muffler. I also adjusted the choke arm to allow a pushrod to...

Will post pictures, and let you about the flight. I have a DA35 under the cowl, with a 20-8 Zoar prop, and using H-5565MH servos. As for the servos, I'm not a hard flyer...yet:)

Well, it it is right on the money. With a full tank of gas it is spot on. As the gas depletes, it goes ever so slightly taill heavy. I think moving the battery forward will take care of that. Thanks for the info. This thing goes into the air Friday. Dave

I know what what the directions say in reference to the cg location, however, I'm missing something in translation....where is the recommended location for the cg. Is it in relation to the wing tube, or leading edge? dc

AK, I'm almost done my build, how are you operating the choke on the engine? I was planning on using a servo to operate it, but me thinks just to operate it with ball link and rod extending through the cowling. Just looking for an idea. dc
