Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

Mah consumption would be tricky as there are some compensating effects going on. HV will supply more watts with less Mah, but the servos could pull more watts either as HV vs 6v servos or maybe the slight voltage difference between Li-Ion and Lipo driving the lipo supplied servos a little...

    Tech-aero IBEC question

You could also try experimenting with the jumpers that control the voltage regulation. Maybe there's too much or not enough..

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

It doesn't easily knife edge loop even if you have super high throws on the ground. If rifle rolls are noticeably slower at high speed. Those kind of things would be signs of blowback. You also need to make sure the servos are getting sufficient power, both from the batteries and via the...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

There's very little torque curve in a brushless motor relative to a gas engine. Torque would be holding a load and horsepower (watts) would be the combination of the amount of work and how fast it is done so I don't think torque really describes how fast it is being moved.

    Rant......Pre assembled fuel tanks.

And the Viton O-Ring can be replaced and should last a really long time as it is. Those caps don't hold up, I think they're a different type of plastic than the main tank and seem to take the stress of the fitment. I don't see the main tank breaking or cracking. A sidenote, I'm really...

    Rant......Pre assembled fuel tanks.

My Wrong Way tank leaked all over the second season I had it. Sealed it back up and then the plastic fiji cap split this spring. Redid it with PSP fittings and can't imagine there being a better system than that..

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

Interesting. I figured there might be an advantage here. Someone should test speed under load. Provided you max the arm out at one inch you'll always get 1/2 the torque by weight going to a 2" arm. 100oz/1" and 50oz/2" are two ways of saying the exact same thing. It's like saying 24 inches...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

This may or may not be relevant, but from setting up electric motors in trucks, they seem to have brutal torque. Way way more than they need. A 1/10th scale motor could be put in a much heavier 1/8th scale truck and still tear around with more torque than any nitro engine. The issue is the...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

I think the torque values should almost perfectly follow arm length. Also the ratio of leverage between the servo arm and hinge point also matters. If an RC car has a .75" arm going to a hinge point with the same .75" that's no different in torque than 1" to 1" or 2" to 2". Maybe they...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

I think the idea is making the tests comparable. Lipos add a big variable to the mix. The arm length at 1" is also standardized, but how the torque changes if you add 50% more length to an arm should be easy to calculate.

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

Parallel charging is great BECAUSE every cell has to be the same voltage not in spite of it. When two lipos are connected by the main leads they quickly equalize pack voltage over a few seconds and maintain the exact same pack voltage from then on. Not an average, the same voltage. Series...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

I sure didn't mean to make it seem that way...thought maybe you were future proofing and buying lipo/LiIon for a HV setup later..:)

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

I'm confused then...how is running HV through a reg going to be anymore convenient than just charging more A123/Life?

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

Sounds like a charging issue, not a battery issue. Check out BuddyRC for a parallel board and charge all your A123 at the same time. So much faster that way.

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

Li-Ion are safer, manufactured with consistency by major electronics manufacturers and light. Li-Ion have a lower discharge capability compared to Lipo, but it's still pretty high relative to the demand placed on them and the lower discharge can be compensated for by just running a setup with...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

You can measure IR and capacity same as a lipo and be able to measure a decline long before the cells go bad. The A123 are supposed to be good for 1000 cycles before hitting 75% capacity. You might not want to keep them around that long, but it's longer than Lipo in any case. It won't be HV...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

I just wasn't clear. I think A123 cells are full of the same layers as Life or Lipo, just packaged in a hard cell. Could be wrong, but their really big packs for cars are built like that. Right, I guess my reasoning for lipo is high discharge and not having to use regulators. If adding...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

A123 works great for electric setups, just a little heavier. Valid point, A123 cells look better supported, but in the end I think they're just filled with a bunch of tiny little layers like Life or Lipo. Anyway they shouldn't be subject to damage other than a crash so long as they are...

Why do you use HV and / or why don't you?

At least with Savox for the same price (1283 vs 1270) HV get's you more speed/torque so the appeal is clear. It also requires slight less amp draw through the wires and connectors for a given watt draw leading to less voltage drop over long wire runs. It's funny how leery everyone is about...

    Redundant Receiver Installation

The 14SG will allow you to assign your functions e.g. Aileron, to any channel you want. So you can maintain mixes and build redundancy between two receivers any way you want. It's all under Linkages > Function Sbus combined with an XPS X10 power expander would be another way to approach...
