Extreme Flight 88" Edge -- now with EXP sized horizontal stabs

Full throttle 60cc crankshaft? Yikes... I dont even do that to my 30cc plane!

    3DHobbyShop 75" Extra

Looks awesome! I immediately noticed there is very little or no taper to the ailerons. The stab is nice and low with huge surfaces. That rudder is huge! Looks like a very nice design :)

Twisted Hobbys Crack Laser, with a few new build tips

Good orientation takes time to develop. Here are a few ideas to try out. Pretend you are in the plane and fly like you are in it. In other words... get your mind behind the plane regardless of attitude. A simple way to help is to shift your body to be going the same way as the plane. If it...

Twisted Hobbys Crack Laser, with a few new build tips

Having weight more toward the front adds stability and reduces the effectiveness of control somewhat. Having it too far back makes the tail want to go in front of the nose... inherently unstable and twitchy. You will want to find a balance point that is comfortable to you. They say a nose...

Twisted Hobbys Crack Laser, with a few new build tips

Dont underestimate the great effects of sim time! After 20 hours you probably have a pretty good handle on orientation. That is the biggest hurdle by far. Im sure you are going to do just great :)

Twisted Hobbys Crack Laser, with a few new build tips

Wow! Good luck! I hope you have a little flying experience at least. If not, I hope you have someone to belp you learn. Id hate to see your plane have a very short life! Either way I admire your initiative!

    Redwing 30cc Yak55 Buid Log

Nice! Great looking plane! My dle 35 takes about 20 flips to prime and then five more to start. I can get it to fire a little sooner if I rock the prop against the compression a few times. I did have to adjust the needles a bit on mine for the initial start. Good luck and report back soon!

    Discussion RC Pilot Figures

Mike are you just against being associated with the dark side of the force?

Yes but the only lead going to the cut off comes from the rx.

    Redwing 30cc Yak55 Buid Log

Yes that is possible. Perhaps the rcexl opto kill is just not that high of quality in the first place. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone after my experience.

    Redwing 30cc Yak55 Buid Log

My problems went away when I switched to an ibef that got power through the rx.

    Redwing 30cc Yak55 Buid Log

Mike the regular rcexl opto kill switch is not designed to run from the same pack as the rx. The isolation is only effective on the rx lead... not on the battery lead. All this is assuming you are using the same one I had that caused me multiple lockouts and a crash. If running the regular...

Awesome Darren. Perhaps your vid should find a home in the 3dpedia.

    Redwing 30cc Yak55 Buid Log

I just wanted to make sure it wasnt on a separate power lead from the same battery as the rx. I learned that lesson the hard way.

Can you vive more details on the ibec? Does it get power from the battery directly? Or does it get power through the rx?

I imagine this outcome is due to a string of unfortunate events that plane has been through. I suppose it handled it pretty well considering its history. I want to get it repaires right away but unfortunately we are in the middle of packing up for our move to Vegas.

I had a friend out there that was taking some video on his phone but he had put it away by the time that happened. It was totally awesome though.

You know how it goes Mike. We push them hard and sometimes stuff breaks... It is a pretty clean break... wont be too hard to fix. She will fly again soon. The motorbox just sheared off when it pancaked. Im estimating less than 8 hours to fix it.
