Your Membership to the AMA covers you WHEREVER you fly, as long it is legal to fly there and you adhere to the AMA's safety code.
THERE is ONLY 1 AMA field in the whole USA... that is in Muncie IN. The flying site beside the AMA headquarters that the AMA owns.
If your local park allows RC... AMA covers you...... If you fly in your back yard, AMA covers you,
If I were you, I would do some reading before you school others on "how the AMA's insurance works"

unfortunately around 10 years ago I had to use the AMA insurance. I called the AMA and wrote down all the rules for future references. apparently some of the rules have changed if they are as you say to everyone else I deeply apologize if I have gave you incorrect information . to you sir thank you so very much for pointing out my errors in such a tactful and delightful way I would hope that you would please please please accept my sincerest deepest apologies sir.

I have been an AMA member for 30 years...... always been the same about where to fly and the insurance coverage follows you.

Normally misinformation is not a big deal, it gets corrected for the most part...... but the issue with the FAA, AMA, drones, traditional model aircraft, and the members reactions have caused some very spirited discussion where a LOT of false information has been exchanged in posts.
the only thing that really happened is that the FAA has come out and said that ANYBODY (13 years old and up) flying an aircraft weighing between .055 lbs and 55 lbs needs to register them starting Dec 21 2015 till Feb 19 2016, before they fly/
This brought on a firestorm where misinformation (and conspiracy theories) has been passed on and on between posts, threads and on the several hobby websites that I frequent...... and all it did was cause more and more frustration and anger.
Hopefully things will calm down after a few days and we can ALL get back to the hobby we enjoy.....but cooler heads need to prevail as I have gotten is a couple of spirited conversations myself and I apologize to anyone I may have offended in the process.

I'm AMA paid up til 2017. I'm taking a wait and see. I live in MI so no flying for me until at least late March anyway. And I have written and called Candace Millers office. She's a Congresscritter on the Aviation subcommittee. You can bitch and moan and make your lube references all you want. If that's how you fight, so be it. Or you could call Richard Nolan.
