Question - EHME 1.85 Ultimate Biplane

Do EHMW kits come with plans? Do they come with an instruction manual in English? While I suspect anyone building one of these kits is not a beginner and should almost be able to assemble one with a decent set of pictures. Could somebody post a page or two of the manual and/or a picture of the plans?

How about spare parts availability?

A fairly rare kit. I haven't seen anything.
Yes, but exactly what I need - a modern kit and an Ultimate biplane. The US dealer is 20 minutes from my house but I haven't got a response from an inquiry and i can't tell if they have stock or its dropped shipped - it would be great if I didn't have to incur a shipping charge.

Bill, The kits come with a CD to download with a ton of pictures on it.
The 10 page(8x11) instructions are written in German but could be translated.
Its not that big of a deal if your comfortable building.
I found myself wondering off right away on certain aspects of placement of servos and fuel tanks
along with other small things.

Kork,

Thank-you for your reply and insight. I have asked Vogelsang for a price but no reply in a couple of days, weird that they state email is their preferred contact method.

Yea, there good folks. Sometimes tough to get ahold of but always do.
I know they went to Germany this fall and were taking orders if anyone wanted something in particular.
That way they could get it on the next container.
I have been emailing Gotz in the last week so it wont be long.

When I purchased mine from vogelsang he sent me a copy of the instructions in PDF. Then all that's needed is to copy and paste the step you're on in google translate. This way you wouldn't have to type all that out in German. Give Gotz some time to respond, it's always taken a while for my questions too.

The instructions being in German isn't really a huge deal because even if they were in English they wouldn't tell you much anyway. They're pretty sparse. The main thing is knowing what size balsa sticks to use in each step.

The good news is the pictures they include are great and the kit is very well made and logically thought out. It's fairly obvious how the pieces fit together and on things like the fuse there likely won't be any alternate (wrong) ways for the interlocking parts to fit together.

On the 100cc there are a couple portions where you are somewhat on your own like the rudder servo mount, some work on the tail servo mount and mounting the fuel tank, but the vast majority of the kit has an established path to completion.

They don't build with plans. The best way to get the fuse together straight initially is probably a really flat table then assemble then CA together. The wings come with foam shucks which compress fit during gluing.

So I wouldn't worry about it being a German kit, it doesn't need much of a manual and you'll be basically on equal footing with a German speaking builder anyway with how little info is in the manual.

I have built two of the EMHW kits and have a third awaiting. The manual is fairly useless and does not translate well, but the cd is quite helpful, and all the wood does not match the sizes given. I separate all the wood, measure and mark each group, and then using the sizes in the manual match each up with where they will fit.
Gutz is a great guy but his hobby business is a hobby, he does take some time to respond because he travels a lot participating in events. All his smaller kits and engine's are drop shipped and it is rather expensive. If I remember right the 46% Pitts was $400 bucks for shipping but I did not want the bigger ones.
Like I said, he is a great guy and will respond eventually, but other than his available kits I go elsewhere.

Hello members,

Will someone upload the Ultimate 1.85 CD so I can see the pictures. Google drive would be the best and using google chrome you can drag and drop the whole cd in one step. Thank-you in advance.
