Can you believe this guy?

You could see the electric line all night from the 3D line and planes were buzzing around in all directions all the way till 1:00AM one night, and also way more planes than flight stations. Crazy hooligans, I guess the FMS demo flights end at dusk.

Someday I'm gonna get a warbird,,, should it be a P-51 or a Corsair? What has the most prestige? :banana-dance:

I had heard about this incident with Quique from a friend who was there, and it was very similar to this guy's statement. I don't know, as I was not on the electric line then.
On the Tripletree web site, it says that ALL pilots must have a spotter. I saw several guys on the electric line that did not. We went there for a short time, with a pair of 60" ExtremeFlight planes. I saw real quick that people were not watching for other aircraft, and it was not the place to be flying 3D. I have never seen that 3D flying is not welcome on the electric line. Can someone tell me where it is written?

So, where are you supposed to fly the electric 3D planes? They certainly don't mix well with the big gassers. Inquiring minds want to know.

Seems like he feels like when his "team" is in the air that they have the airspace.
Depends. IF, they did indeed wait for ALL of the flight stations to be open, so they could fly together, then they did have the airspace. Nothing wrong with that. PAU did the same thing on the 3D line, and everyone respected that the four flight stations were occupied.

You park your car outside of a baseball field, you have to accept the real risk of taking a baseball in the windshield... a bit of presumption of the risk. You put your airplane up at Joe Nall... you have every expectation that you are flying in an environment with a very heightened risk....
Very good point. I have always considered it my plane, my risk. It just seems the natural result of the enevitable problem with trying to place blame on one pilot over another.

i read the original post and it appears to be mostly objective without much additional dramatic padding (although I admit there is some) so we're going to let this stay as an active thread. the OP can choose to edit the first post indicating that the matter is evolving to his satisfaction but that is his choice. So long as the thread remains objective we can let the conversation continue.

Thanks for being civil about the conversation.

Making airplanes of different types fit it together at big events is something we are all challenged to do so discussing it is worthwhile if it can be kept civil.

Thank you,
Bart

For what it's worth, we won't usually allow site members to try to shame manufacturers or other individuals by posting these kinds of things. Bashing people in public in order to raise the threat of damaging google search results won't fly here.

The first post here may have an element of that in it but it's also raising a larger question about flying sites being accommodating different activities during big events.

If there's an uproar to close the post we'll consider it but at this point it seems as if the first post was objective and the conversation is remaining civil (which we thank everyone for!).
