bizarre issue with airplane

Vibration can cause this, ALSO, this is one that I would have never guessed but I had it happen. If you cinch down a servo lead too tight with a zip tie, it can cause weird things to happen. Like the wires crack under the zip tie, and it doesn't cause a short, but creates resistance that can make a servo act weird as hell, and it get's worse when the engine is running sending vibration through the airframe. Before ripping everything out, I'd try new servo leads as well.

Thanks to the boss and overtime all I got done was to swap out the im22 to standard match box and to inspect everything in the tail section, servoes appear perfect and no loose wires, connections etc all the way back to the RX , didn't think the neighbors would appreciate a run up at 10pm so testing will have to wait till tomorrow.. dammit.

We actually seem to care about the safety of others with their airplanes here. Sometimes, people need a little nudge to see it as well.

Found that the rudder lead is standard jr flat lead going to rudder, must have been trying to save weight, that will be replaced with tail dragger hd tonight before the test run. The list of possibilities is shrinking.

Interesting on the zip ties idea, going to replace some of them w one wrap 1/4" velcro or go old school with the zip tie inside a fuel tube to reduce the pinch. Thanks Sleepy.

Wishing these things had an obdm test plug !

I like these for holding wires, I put the wires in then add a drop of ca on the split.

Naaaa, flat ribbon wire vs twisted wire doesn't change anything. Give used flat ribbon wire at 64" length and never had an issue.

But tying the wires down solid and tight isn't a good thing. Like others said above me, and I will second it, you can actually cut/break the strands of wire inside the vinyl coating. That happened to me on a brand new JR HD switch. Wire broke inside on the maiden flight, and destroyed a brand new 60cc airframe.

I like the foam wire keeps for routing my wiring. :)
