Fail Safe Question

Put me down for idle failsafe. My line of thinking is if I went into a fail safe condition it would be due to signal loss some how. The chances of reconnection to me would have to be really good once the plane got into another attitude where connection could be reestablished. My understanding of 2.4 it is line of sight so maybe the antennas are not in a correct position where there is a blind spot. BTW I have heard of stories from all radio brands where they had intermittent connection and moving the antennas corrected the issues. So I would rather have my engine online to fly it back and make adjustments. Now if you lost control from a mechanical issues like failed receiver or for some reason both batteries went dead or unconnected at the same time what are the chances of the fail safe kicking in to reduce throttle or kill it. My thinking is if you are dong some hard core 3d stuff close to the flight line the chances of a signal issues is very low because you are very close to the transmitter. A mechanical issue would be more likely at that point and who knows what is going to happen at that point.

I fly electric, so mine is set to kill the motor. I set all my motors on a kill switch and fly with an idle setting. One day in the pits my radio went in to fail safe and the motor turned on. Since that day I have set my failsafe to zero throttle.

The argument for idle seems to be that there is a better chance of saving the airplane. Is that really worth the higher consequences of having a running engine when the plane reaches it's unknown reunion with the ground. Even if there are no people involved, it is bad for the engine which is frequently the highest value article in the plane.

Put me down with the kill.. Luckily I've never had so much as a glitch, but if I ever do lose a rx I want that 20 plus inch hunk of carbon fiber to stop spinning. I set mine up to go to throttle cut off and shut the ignition off.
