Scale Bud Nosen 1/4 Scale Cub?

As Summer is fading away here in Easter Idaho, I'm getting geared up to start on the fuse. Have a special guest showing up in a couple of weeks to help out with the build. Pics to follow. I've also seen that Balsa USA has a new covering material out called Planetex. Has anyone used it yet? It's over twice the cost of Sig Koveral, but is supposed to be a tighter weave for better paint coverage.

Stuck on Stits, or rather the scale version Stits Lite, but curious to hear more about this one.

Just placed the order! I was told I only need one 5m pack, due to the fact that its 54" wide. Hope its enough! I ordered their poly tac and poly brush as well. I was going to use Sig Dope for paint, but they have been out of the colors I want to use for some time now. Don't know if they will get some in by the time I need it or not. I'm going with this color scheem.

Why are you using sig dope.

It's the only thing I've used in the past. Mainly because of it's fuel proof properties back in my nitro days. I've looked at some of the automotive paints and they are way more expensive. Latex paints seem heavy, or is it a misconception?? The planes I've painted with dope come out nice and light. I'm up for learning new things if there's better!!

All I can say is I have painted many planes with sig dope and yes it is light but difficult to work with and takes many coats to get decent coverage, and it pulls away from the corners if don’t get it just right. Tried Stits paint and have NEVER looked back just no comparison. Stits is just as light. Just my experience.

Just took a look at the stits site and it looks like the same company that makes the poly tak and poly brush I ordered from Balsa USA. Price doesn't seem too bad iether. I think I just have a mental block when it comes to latex paint. Can't seem to wrap my mind around using house paint for my planes :oblong:. I'll have to do some more lookin on the stits sysem and maybe give it a try.
