Busted out my slats last night. One of the mounting tabs was sheared off... the others were not very strait when glued in. Also it seems like they missed some glue inside as the wood is lifting from the structure. uggg.... may just strip the covering.
Strip the covering of the wing or the slats. You will not believe it but I cannot find my slats and have no idea where they are .

Mine were right in plain sight next to the wings LE.

That plane has been nothing but a PIA for you!

I've have a few new gray hairs in my beard HA HA! The struggle is real. All the work is worth it as its a great flying airplane.

yeah, when I installed mine I had to do a little bit of finagling and I had to fix one of the tabs because it was crooked and broken. After a little bit of adjustment and sanding to get them to slide in a little bit easier, the glueing went fine and everything lined up great!

Need to replace my rudder. I've read about drilling out old hinge holes and reusing them, but I've never done it. What's the best method, or should I just drill new sets of them on the stab and rudder? Thanks

woah woah WHOA!, not so fast. . . tell us more. LOL What happened? Am I NOT the only one with a Timber in a constant state of repair? HA HA!

I'll second using a pencil soldering iron (like an old weller) to remove the hinges. Just cut them off with a razor saw carefully at the hinge to separate the rudder from the fuselage, make a second cut to get them somewhat flush and melt those suckers out.

Hehe

My stock tailwheel has been bending over time (only 2 leafs, the pics have 3?) and it bent up and smacked my Rudder. Combination of some 'firm' landings over time, and a specific flight where I was having some control issues (not sure what that was yet), and I had to put it down no matter what.

Also ordered a new set of horizontal stabs, as I see some very slight movement between the stab and the elevator on one side....makes me wonder about how it was glued. Ordered the Xcub tailwheel also. For me, the stock one was not sufficient.
