GP 76 twin gas engine

49dimes

Damn I'm hungry
Heard it through the grape vine that GP will be introducing a couple of new engines this year.
Particularly a 76cc twin to compete for a home in the newer 92+ inch class airframes. I am hoping all the engine lovers will help shed some tangent evidence of this speculation. I think I would just have to have one for what will probably be my last GS project.

I think It's a 76cc Twin and there will be a 38cc single. I couldn't help but notice that Extreme Flight just announced they'll be carrying GP engines on the shelf... I can only assume this 76 will be a huge hit on the 90" class airframes.

This was stolen from the other site. . . which also mentioned a possible release date in Jan/Feb. We shall see.

Thanks for sharing. And thanks for a bit of clarity.....76cc. I actually tried to search GP's site with no results. Fergus Lin's FB page is where I heard of the rumor (through my spies lol) but I no longer participate on FB.

Yeah, would love to get a sneak peak from the company website.... dimesions would be a good piece of info... like cap to cap. Unfortunately the plugs are not angled so that may be a challenge fitting tnto some cowls. Anxiously waiting!

I like 'em "BIG"!
Shhh... no one say a word to my red heads. I heard about this twin a couple of months ago. I was not at liberty to say anything. But now that the cat is out of the bag, I was told the 76cc twin could possibly have the power output of a DA 100. Sooo... now another cat gets to be released. I love my redheads more than most anything. But I truly loathe the way 3w designed the carb system on the 70cs. I would really like to see some numbers on performance, weight and installation restrictions. All I can say is, I hope it doesn't have the carb/reliability issues my 176 evo had. If it has the power output as suggested, I would definately seriously consider one for a particularly anemic Baby Yakster.

The props are new for something new and there is a new thing on the background... looks like a shiny new GP-76 to me. Nothing is released yet though

So what is it that you loathe about the carburetor is the carburetor or that it is mounted on the back of the engine. Surely it runs great just the position. My 3W 42 hast the carburetor on the back and yes it is pain to instal and tune but runs great it will spit fuel in the fuselage at times which is not nice.
I am sure I can find a nice home for it.

Love the Tillotson carbs. Hate the mounting on the back of the engine. Biggest and truthfully the "ONLY" reason I have not purchased a red headed 70 twin.

On another note, I spoke with one of GP's vendors today. A friend of mine. The word on the GP 76 is...it's coming. It is definitely coming. Just not entirely certain when. At present, the cranks and cylinders are the hang up. First reports are that it will turn the same size prop as the DA 70. Ok, that is all well and good. But here is the icing on the cake. Same prop as the DA 70, but 1000 rpm more. Yes, 1000 rpm more than a DA 70. Very cool. Hence new size props for the GP76 are now available. So, good possibility I am going to put one on order just as soon as orders are being taken.
