Got the 72 boxed back up and Avanti S unboxed. Very nice 80mm sport EDF foamy :). A bit of work to do with it starting with programming the Aura 8 and tucking it inside the fuse with two remote DSMX RX's. Going to re route some wiring too and clean up the battery bay. I have read some reports that guys have hit 140mph with the stock 12 blade fan :on_the_go: using 70C 6S packs! Oh boy! one  and IB getting another one :D.

While the Freewing Avanti is an awesome jet, 140 is asking a bit much. Of course we've had some wild radar gun readings at our field. One guy got my Pilot Edge at 126 which is pretty well impossible with the engine and prop combo I run.

Have to agree with you an Edge that is capable of do 3D will not do 126mph I have a racing plane called a Sundowner with the right stuff and all that is missing is the cowl and I am struggling to 100mph. If have seen this before with radar guns most of the time the numbers are bogus. Good old stop watch works every time.

Most 3D airplanes in the 35% range are capable of well over 100mph sustained level flight. 126mph is easily achievable with the right engine and propeller combination. Some of the 40% composite airplanes have been clocked to nearly 150mph with a good tailwind.

But lets not forget the officially unofficial top speed record for hobby RC airplane is 545mph, and it does not have a motor

Yes I know that it is crazy California boy that figured out how come of the back face of a mountain up across the top and by doing this several times the sling shot he gets and just keeps improving the speed. Watched several of he’s peaches and videos and read some some of his stuff he is one smart person.

Just for interest if you take 35% plan not crunching in cd factor with a 10 pitch prop and perfect wind conditions you would have to be at 11,000 rpm to get 100 mph that is not easy to do especially at that rpm the tip is breaking the sound barrier and not doing a thing.
If you fly with a 18 pitch and correctly pick the diameter to absorb the power it is possible, but th only thing is do you have enough diameter to pull with to overcome the drag of the plane. This is all at level flight. Diving down is a different story.

I very much have to agree. Freewing states 115 out of the box with a 40C 5000 6S. I'm going with a bit more electron push 65C packs.

I think 120 plus is very doable with them. What really impressed me watching all the vids was the sound. Darn close to a actual gas turbine model. The flexing metal retractable LG and lights are the "icing" on the "way cool" for me . And it looks good to boot :D.

Getting close to having it flight ready. Just waiting on my bat's to show up.

That looks fantastic. Nice plane that will be a big change from a slow 3D plane. Keeps us informed. I see you have QQ gyro in it I have one and still in the box will be asking for help one day when I install it for guidance.
