Sport Bud Nosen (!!!) 1/4 Scale Citabria Build! Woo hoo!

Got up early this morning and figured I might as well pull the tail together. Used gallon cans to hold the sides perpendicular with the lines on the plans as the guide. It's pretty close to perfect, not quite but close enough for this one. I'll have some photos of the firewall mounted to the front end later on tonight.View attachment 102780View attachment 102779 View attachment 102781View attachment 102782
Nice work on the body stick building is time consuming but it is light and very stiff structure. Have one question what or how are you sanding all the little angles on the diagonals.

Thanks Snoop', I cut them with a hand saw and then sand them to fit using a Craftsman 6" disc sander. If I'm lucky they fit as cut and there's no sanding but that's rare.

Spent some time this evening getting the first couple of pieces of the fuselage sides laid out and glued into place.

Had to make a brace to keep the firewall centered and vertical over the plans. I'm still not sure if I was supposed to build the fuselage upside down or right side up. The directions make it sound like it was supposed to be right side up but it only really seems like it could have been done upside down. I'll be scratching my head for years over this one. :ugh!::ugh!::ugh!:

Damn I'm hungry
Really like Bart's building table and shop. And all the cool framing apparatus .

Obviously well organized and meticulous :way_to_go:. But could you please put a fire extinguisher in there?

Thanks for caring! :)

Fire extinguisher is present and accounted for.

Fuselage progress continues, it's done being pinned to the bench and now we add the bits and pieces that will give it that funky Citabria outline. I may stop working on the fuselage to get the wings going. It isn't likely the wings will be built to the plans. More likely is a clipped wing, little to no dihedral, and one piece like a Sig Clipped Wing Cub. Not sure yet how I'll do that but I've got to work on the changes now because there will be some stuff in the fuselage that will have to change to make it work.

The landing gear is from an old Cap 232 ARF that I got in an estate package I bought maybe eight years ago? It is going to look so much better than the too wide dural style gear that came with the kit. Citabrias have skinny spring gear legs!
