Sport Bud Nosen (!!!) 1/4 Scale Citabria Build! Woo hoo!

This great thanks for doing a buil and especially something other than a 3D plane. It is a big plane at 105 inches.

105" is the full span but I'm going to clip the wings and go for the clipped Cub vibe. Not sure how much to clip yet but I can almost guarantee it won't be full span. It would make sense too with the clipped wing to go to a DLE 30 or something like that but I'd like to use the engine I have and not go spending any more money for this one than I have to.

So we'll see how it all works out.

This makes me so very happy to see it get built. Thanks Bart

Chris! See what you did! lol, happy to do it. i can get goofy though, you've been warned.

I got your PM, we'll get you a set of the plans as soon as I'm done with them. I'll just send them to you and you can copy them, build from them, whatever you want. I have another one of these kits if you're interested. I'll probably sell it sometime soon but you can have first dibs.

This is how far I got yesterday before calling it quits.

In this photo you can see an example of a piece that was supplied with the kit over the replacement piece I had to make. It's possible a previous owner messed up some of the parts, I don't know. There is a part number stamped on it so it's an original piece. :ugh!::ugh!::ugh!:

Thanks bud. How much you looking to get for the other kit?? I was thinking I could scratch one out and put my own twist on it with the things I have learned and make it lighter and slap a 40cc twin on it.

Funny you say that, this afternoon I was thinking about the banner tow Cub I did and thought a 40cc twin with the full wing would make a fun banner and glider tow plane. If you want to make it really light I wouldn't start with the kit, the balsa is pretty mediocre grade. Good for a regular build but you can do a lot better if you don't mind spending the money on really light balsa and then whatever mods you want to do...that would be the way to go if you want to get it light.

Who would you order from for some light weight balsa? The pre-shaped parts for the elevators are really badly formed and heavy. I'd like to redo them with some lighter material. Balsa USA? Bud Nosen Models? or someone else?

These were designed for .60 to .90 nitro engines and I'm planning a G-26 so I'd guess it will be nose heavy but the wood for the tail pieces is so dense I'm worried it will be tail heavy!

Thanks.
