Well just bought this a old Funtana brand new in the box never opened. I thought that I would build it as lite as possible installl a YA 120 air chamber motor still have one almost brand new c/w a Demon Cortex. And a good set of fast servos. Hope fully this combination is good in the wind, time will tell. Now all I have to do assemble the plane.
If anyone has owned one and there is something that I should be aware of please let me know thanks. This is just a plane to go flying when the wind is at 20mph and up. Not a lot invested and still get to go out and fly.

Got the 120 bolted back to the Yak last night. Normally you would just run the bolts through the firewall, slap some washers and locknuts on the backside and call it good. Well I've been using a different method on my last 3 airplanes where I overdrill the bolt holes in the firewall and insert t-nuts. Then I follow the backside of the bolt with a locknut, this locks the bolt in place so it can't back out.

Since the 120 is all shiny new I decided to try and clean up the mufflers.

I lightly hit them with a wire wheel on the bench grinder, then followed with some 250 grit sandpaper to smooth them out. Above shows before wire wheel and after.

Terry Wiles showed a great video on how to make the gasket for the mufflers with the red RTV, so I employed his technique here. Mufflers also got the same treatment.

Muffler tubes after wire wheeling and sanding them. Not perfect, but looks better than the old greasy stacks that were there before.

I like to dab the bolts with the RTV to help lock them in. To date I've never had one muffler bolt come loose (knock on wood).

Bolted the prop on and screwed the ignition plate back in place. Just need that cowl now :)

That is so awesome! I had one of those a few years ago. I put a Saito 125 on mine. It flew really really well. But if I were to do it again, I would put a dle 20 on it. I just can't do the glow thing any longer. LOL

Thanks for reply. If I had a spare 20 cc gas engine I would use it, but I do have a glow so that is what it will be. But the 120 YS will out perform my 20 cc OS gas engine by quite a bit. But yes if I had a gas engine it would be used just cleaner and most likely over the long run cheaper.

I still love the smell of glow fuel and still love the smoke trail of a 100+mph classic pattern plane. Other than that, wiping the plane down, $25 a gallon fuel that requires driving to a hobby shop. Is my fuel fresh or should I dump it and get new................. And glow planes are giant scale.
