I use this address (e-mail) to talk with the KCS folks. I hope it gets you some help. I have flown my 1/3 scale Triplane a few times this year and I have one of the first 5. So far it has been a great motor. This is the start of my 2nd full flying season with this motor. Yours were both in a Mustang? Any chances of it being an over heating problem? Not enough airflow? Just a thought off the top of my head.

I thought that but I have 2 other Mustangs one with DA 50 and one with Dle 55 and neither have an over heating problem. I have more than 1/3 cut out of cowl underneath.
Thanks for your info. See how I go with Kcs. Hope they will be helpful

There was one other person that had a KCS 62 that over heated during the break-in phase. I think it was traced to a bad carburetor. The thread is somewhere on GiantScaleNews.com I would be interested to see how KCS works this issue out. Please keep us informed. Jeff

fjm@kcsengine.com That is the only address I have for them. It is at the top of my e-mails to them.
https://www.GiantScaleNews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184643. But you have to remove the GiantscaleNews and insert f l y i n g g i a n t s For a reason I do not know, when I copy the address of the thread in f l y i n g g i a n t s, this site changes it to read giantscalenews. I also had to put a space inbetween each letter or this site would re write it to GSnews. Whatever. But that is the thread that started it all for me. The e-mail address is at the bottom of the very first post. I sent an e-mail to them a few weeks ago and it worked fine. It takes a while for them to answer some times, as I guess they are working hard on a new item. If you want, you could send me your e-mail address and I will send it to the KCS folks thru my e-mail. vegasedstrom@charter.net just a thought. I did mention your problem to them in my last e-mail and put this thread into the e-mail also. I wish I had something else to try. Let me know. Jeff

My advise on the KCS engine is to RUN don't walk to anyplace and buy almost any other RC engine sold. KCS is a complete and total POS. I've never said that about another RC engine ever. Even my old SV50 twin which I previously called a POS still runs even though the crank pulls out almost 1/16" when you rev it up. The KCS has simply too many issues, they need to start over.

I would like to know what makes you say that it is a POS? As I said when I was given this motor, I have almost zero time with gas motors. So educate me on what makes this a bad motor as compared to a good one. What are the issues you speak of. I ask this not to sound like I am defending the KCS, I just have nothing to compare it too. I am looking into an inline twin in the 110-120 range. Any ideas on motors in that area?

I think the issues with KCS are well documented. Overheating, tun-ability, piston scoring / lockup etc. Better off with DLE, RCGF or EME for a budget engine otherwise just buy DA and have an engine that lasts for many airframes.
