It's very similar to K&B paint your right i remember getting a headache from the fumes when my dad and i were painting our Formula 1 racing planes.
Its very durable paint for sure, my dad and i whiched to PPG paint in the late eighties and in the nineties , we found the prime in PPG to superior , better coverage with less build up of prime and the paint was great . It was more cost effective to use the PPG paint as the K&B paint got to be very expensive compared to PPG .

I do remember spraying a least two to three coats of primer , it just takes four hours to get a good coverage without pushing it and getting runs .
My father and I were painting three airplanes in 1983 in June in the garage , we weren't wearing masks , after finishing the next day my Dad was complianing of chest pains so off to the Emergency he went . After three days he was released and the chest pains went completely away with no major signs of heart damage or heart attack .
We found out three years later when reading R/C modeler they talked about the side effects from these chemicals (Isocinates ). They can mimic a heart attack sypthoms and leave your body with out a trace .
Very potent chemical in these paints , after we started to wearing masks all the time and never had another issue with these paints

I like the Preval spray bottle are they pump or is air used to spray the paint .

One set of stabs is done.

Lots of work to do that!

Even worse is the fact that you are inhaling epoxy. You are putting an epoxy coating on your alveoil in the lungs. Really bad.

My Dad had fibromyalgia in his body which lead to his death , the autopsy showed he only had 10 % capacity in his lungs and that the small parts of the lungs were crystallize so he had a very hard time breathing . He was a occasional smoker in his thirties worked for LaFarge construction for the last eighteen of his working career where he was exposed to a large amount of cement dust . Yes the epoxy paint was limited it did play apart in my dads lung damage .

Too cold to go out to my shed and work on the planes. I have been ordering things for it. Just got two CB 400 and 4 lipo batteries that are 3S. I ended up soldering the Deans plugs to them. I then covered the plugs with these plug covers from Esprit RC.

I also contacted Eric from B & E Graphix and he has designed these graphics for the airplanes:

Time to get out to the shed and work on the covering!

Like the graphic design B&E made for your planes , they are very good for design ideas .
It's cold up here -7.6f / -24c tonite the garage is too cold , I have taken up some room in my basement to start assembling my Extra .
Where did you get the batteries and what type are those ends you soldered on , not Mpx ?

Hello Rusty! Don't know how you all do it. Way too cold for me!
The batteries are 3S lipo batteries from Pulse. I will be using a central box 400 from Jeti, that will down regulate the voltage to 8.0 volts. that way, from flight after flight, servos are seeing same voltage throughout the day.

I soldered on Deans plugs. Then, i glued on the plug covers, sold by Esprit RC.

Keep warm my friend..

Hi Cam . Its very cold again it does take a toll on the body and vehicles dont like operating ,temp is -13F or-25C this morning .

So you have a separate power lead with Deans on one side and MPX on the other for the CB400 Jeti box ?
Looks like you have more than adequate voltage for the new Aircrafts and those solider joint look great should stand up to the vibration .

Just consuming lots of hot coffee for warmth and wearing the long under wear at these temps.
Have a great day and i have enjoyed all the info in your posts .

Hi Rusty, yes, you are correct. I do not like to plug anything in and out of the receiver/powerbox. will make an extension, with an MPX that plugs into the central box, and then other end will have a male deans plug. On this airplane, i can use either 2s or 3s, but 3s will guarantee that the servos see constant voltage throughout the 4 or 5 flights i make in a day or during competition. Yes, i took my time soldering those bad boys on there. Always have to make sure you do not get a cold joint. otw, badness can happen!
