Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

I like 'em "BIG"!
I got off work a few minutes, (about an hour actually) early tonight and so I set out to get some of the last minute details finished up on the Pitts. I am "just aaaalmossssst" there. Got the canopy sanded and sitting right pretty now. Dowels in the nose of the canopy inserted, Cowl ring bolted into place, cowl slipped on for final fit....and I even got the canopy support blocks built and glued in. About all that is left now is build the landing gear cover, final sand the fuse and "boom", "DONE". Ready for covering. I know, I know...I been saying that for what? A few days now? I just can't let anything go unattended. Oh yeah, them darn pesky servo rails. But I am not too concerned about those right now. I can build those in after the plane is covered.

A few accomplishment photos from tonight.

Another evening like tonight and I will definitely be ready for putting some color on this girl.

Thanks Earle. Oh you know me. Already planned on the "screen" effect like my Cessna. Hee hee. I just need to dig my stock of screening material out of my box and shoot it silver. :yesss: Or actually, what ever color matches the color I end up going to on the cowl. Could always add a different colored border too. Thank you for reminding me of this little detail.

The only thing he has to turn the scoop around to get the hot air out.??????????
Been thinking about that. Since I built the bottom of the fuse enclosed, I am planning on opening up the cowl just enough to allow air across the twin jugged 3w beast cylinders. Baffle it of course, then send the warm air straight down the enclosed can tunnel to be exhausted through vents in the belly of the fuse. Add a deflector like my 260 and wa-laa! "It's the suck zone"! Lol

Here we go my friends. Temporary assembly of the Pitts. In fitting everything together, all went well except for the top canopy/hatch. It appears it will need just a little touch up for fit. Course, I have not final sanded yet, so that will probably take care of it. Way to wet outside and since I can not sand anywhere other than that, guess it will have to wait. I guess covering will be held off for a little while. No big though. Not like Spring is just around the corner.

I got a steal on two brand new "correctly sized" Airman Wheels for the big Yak, so off came the White Rose. I wanted to see how they would look on the Pitts. Although they look pretty bad ass, I feel just a tad too big for the airframe. Oh well, I will just order new "correct sized" for the Pitts.

I also purchased a new aluminum spinner and back plate. Not the Ultimate styled spinner that is in the photos. Again, just a test fit. I think the one I got for this plane will look better than the Ultimate style.

More to come gentlemen.
