3DHS and Extreme Flight Merger?

Today, it's hard to see any 3D company, plane, or flyer today not influenced by 3DHS and EF.

The new company has a lot to live up to, but for my money, by joining forces they have the greatest brain trust in the 3D ARF industry. I'm thinking happy thoughts

I like the idea of an increased product line. The market is flooded with Yaks, Edges and Extras. Sometimes I just want a cool plane to bore holes in the sky with. I also think Mike's concerns for fixing what is broken is very valid. They aren't dummies and I would suspect they are well aware of their short comings. It will be interesting to see how all of this shakes out.

I believe the hobby is in a major slow time right now. Maybe they had to merge to stay open??? Im seeing other companies run sales more often and offer free shipping. Like everyone else seys this could be really good or really bad. Ive never had either of the two companys planes but i do hope they do well. Most kids these days stay inside and play video games so sales may not pick up much.... I have a 7 year old that loves to play video games and I do limit his time on it in the summer. We go outside but he has no interest in flying. That really disappoints me but im not pushing him to fly. I know im getting off the subject here so best of luck to them

I think this is great news, combining warehouses cuts cost, scale of manufacturing gains them better factories and prices. Nice to see them going into scale and general aviation. It will be bumpy for a bit, but I really can't see a downside

79" slick with DA50 (cheap) is going to be a winner

Same here. And by moving to one warehouse, computer, phone system, insurance plan, etc they can create some economies of scale. I think that adding the scale and warbird segment can open them up to a larger customer base that will demand quality customer service - so hopefully they will add the appropriate resources accordingly. Through these additional lines and merging the two companies' production, they should also be able to leverage their suppliers a little better for price, quality, timing/lead times.

Hopefully it will turn out to be a win-win but I would imagine that we might see some growing / adjustment pains for the next few months.

I think more product offerings is awesome but if the existing issues continue it really won't matter what they bring to market.... at least for me. All we can do is sit back and see what happens. I too wish them the best! This has been a very long year for them!

I'm concerned that adding the additional product lines might impact their ability to have enough stock of their 3D airframes...a chronic problem. I have airframes from both of these manufacturers and they are some of the best I have...but other companies are quickly gaining on them in terms of premier airframes, so they cannot rest on their laurels. Too soon to tell, I'm sure...the proof will be in the changes that are evident when you go to order an airframe on their web site or when you call their number for customer service.

I'm neither disappointed nor happy...just watching to see how this shakes out.

I also heard in there the possibility of a west coast warehouse, that would be nice for us out on the west coast. My shipping on my 91" EF Extra was a bit high at 190.00 but I am happy with the airplane..... I hope the best for all involved!!

Well I took a beat down when I criticized 3DHS's abyssmal inventory issues in a thread discussing 3DHS and said they would be out of biz with their Supply Chain Management Probs and feel glad that EF is heading this up as their CS is fantastic and Ben and Noll "screwed the pooch" with 3DHS. So I will take a victory lap for EF !

I think you make a valid point with 3DHS, but to include EF I think is misleading. I have to admit they are my two favorite plane manufacturers and glad EF seems to be taking the lead.
