DLE35RA VESS 20A 7500 rpm after 7 gallons. Haven't seen over 7600rpms. Been thinking about switching to a VESS 19B or a Carbon 19X8. I think the spool up could by quicker, but is okay as is. Also: Reed block mod, and frank bowman ring.

Seems like some good rpms with that prop. I'm getting 6900 with the Vess 20A on my OSGT33 and it flies nice and the stock muffler really has a nice sound to it. I'm thinking of tracking down a Pitts muffler to try though as I've heard the stock OS muffler is a bit restrictive.

For what it's worth I just weighed both my DA35 and DLE 35RA. Just the motor and cm6 plug. DA was 2lbs 1.8oz. DLE was 2lbs 1.4oz. I think that when I add the pitts muffler to the DA and mount the stock DLE muffler, the difference in weight will increase slightly more. No big deal for me, and really not a big difference, I was just bored!

I received a fast reply from JTec and was told that the only difference between the standard and large wrap around pitts is .5" in size and a couple dB quieter and no performance difference. For close to a 50% price increase of the larger one, I think I am going to go with the standard. If I decide it's too loud, I may consider the pipe setup but I'm about 95% sure of my choice now.

my dle 35 got 8500 rpm on a xoar 19x3da prop on the first run I backed it down to 8200 . ran 2 gallons the went with a zoar 20x6 sword and was getting 8100. all this from a stock eng. no mods and 93 octane gas 32:1 mix. I have a da 70 but for a 30cc size plane cant beat the dle 35ra for price/power

Good to know, Thanks! I like the plug and play method with the Jtec Pitts verses the pipe. I have seen people comment on how tricky the pipe can be to tune and it's very "peaky", and how the Pro-Flow Can doesn't quite it down in comparison to the JTec Pitts, There is some comments on a site of the JTec cracking, and warping but I think those things happen due to other circumstances as well.

I completely agree, I'm finishing up my AJ/DLE build this week, and I'm about 45% done with my EF/DA build, so I will probably order the standard pitts this week.

I'm thinking this is the way to go as well, unless I'm being sponsored by ES Comp... unless I'm flying a small 50cc or large 35cc plane, the extra power isn't required, nor is the extra hassle of tuning the pipe, and buying different props at $25-80 bucks a prop. I read somewhere that the pipe tunes differently for elevation so whatever information you collect from other users... it still may be different. People have been using the stock length and some have been cutting it all the way down to 26" starting one inch at a time to get gains of 400rpm and a better throttle response. Furthermore, one would have to extend the pipe tunnel to use a tuned pipe. This is why I thought a canister could be better with less modification involved, but without the added noise reduction, and performance gain, the cost is significantly more. I have heard of people starting with the pipe or Can and moving back to the Pitts. So in conclusion, I think if somebody wants to throw an exhaust on that works very well, that's cheaper, and provides less hassle... they should go with the JTec Pitts for a 30cc bird IMO on the DA-35. When the time comes for a 50cc bird, I'd probably get a can and add smoke. Ha so now I need to decide if a few Db is worth the Large J-Tec Pitts at the added cost of $139.99 vs $79.99. I like the idea of a lower Db, even though the cost is more, it could be a better expansion chamber if one wanted to add smoke. FYI the Large Pitts is hard to find other than the Mfgrs Site, Where as the Regular version is easier to find but is out of stock in a lot of places and $99.99 instead of $79.99.
There's my 2 cents.
