The attitude of some of those guys reminds me of the club treasurer of the first club I was in. He tried to run me off the very first day I was there. I was an AMA member, but hadn't joined the club yet. I was there as a guest of my friend Tony that was training me. I was done for the day and was cleaning my airplane when he pulled in, walked straight to me and started with the 20 questions and a huge attitude. He was really pissed when he found out that Tony was training me and that he had only been flying 2 weeks!

Tony and I were the cause of several new rules at that club over the years and that was the first. Students could only be trained by authorized instructor pilots. A rule that he and I broke all the time when somebody need help learning.

I finally did quit that club after about 15 years and went a decade without flying, and that same club treasurer had A LOT to do with it, so I guess he won in the long run. No actually I did, I really like the club I'm in now!

this guy came up to me and was asking me all questions:" where i was from, what do i do, etc....", then, he told me or mentioned something to me, which he stated at least 4 times in a time period of 2 weeks that i was there. he told me: "there sure are a lot of people joining this club...." that was the clue to me that he did not want me there.

In time people will usually forget what you said.

In time people will usually forget what you did.

But they will always remember how you made them feel.

That's not a club I would ever consider joining and I am sure they would not want me to join either. Best of luck to that club as the old guys die off so will the club.

This makes me very thankful of the two clubs I belong to. This kind of thing will never happen. I feel like we even come on a little strong sometimes to newcomers.

I know this is really only one side of the story, but man it sure makes me glad to be part of my club.. First off, you want to be a member? Come to a meeting and pay the club dues. Second, if anyone acted like a immature little boy like the guy that came running up whining that if this Jason flies he's not flying, he would get told to grow up...

We are also lucky enough to have most of the other area clubs are part of a group called the Friends of Flight, and we work together and most of us are friends. We also have a picnic/fly-in that rotates fields every year.

We have our club politics, and there are members that don't care for other members but it really seems like those in my club realize this is a hobby and we are here to have fun and leave the BS at home..

I guess short version of what I'm saying is its videos like this that make you appreciate what you got!!!

Reminds me of a few of our "daytime" guys at our club. Complaining about this... Complaining about that... A new interested non member pulls up and they act like he is invisible..

They complain about how the jet guys and giant scale guys fly a lot.. I mean it's only a paved 800' runway and a waste for what they are doing... Complain about safety rules and liabilities but fly their multi copters in the Pitts..

Having club meetings voting on things for their agenda and not notifying the guys whom might vote against it..one in particular was a "life ban" to a member.

Blah... It's such a shame. We have one of the nicest facilities in our region.

Indeed! Too short for these kinda things. Well! Me, part of no club. Huge runway and I, most of the time are alone. Occasionally we get visited by some onlookers. Bliss!!!

My case is every time one or two originating members don't get their way they are sure to (or try to) ruin the fun for all others at any cost. At one point I seriously debated getting out of the hobby. I came to my senses and realized that was not the answer to the problem.
