i talked to noll about this a while back, and its just such a hard thing to predict. if something has been out of stock for a while, for example wheel pants, when noll gets them in, they might sit for 6 months and not sell a single one. then one person will by 3 or 4 sets so they have backups if they get out of stock again. You have 4 or 5 people buying 3 or 4 of common spare parts (wheel pants, cowls, canopys, etc.) then you run out really quick. people want stock of everything (both airframes and parts) all the time whenever they need it, and the reality is that there is limited manufacturing time at the plant.

Being in the service industry (civil engineering) I totally get this fact, but at the same time if the demand suddenly increases then what we do is find additional temporary consultants that can step in to do one or two specific jobs for us. I don't see why this can't be the case here as well. Seems actually easier to have a few consulting manufacturers in the wings for when demand is high or just limit the amount that any one person can buy of a particular item (the latter doesn't fix the issue with total available stock or consumer perception). Conversely, if the company is unable or unwilling to seek additional manufacturers then perhaps limiting its variety of models and keeping better stock of a smaller set of models may be an option.

I don't know their business, and perhaps there isn't an available manufacturer for all the parts or it's a logistic nightmare that just isn't feasible but I have to tell you it took me all of 10 minutes to do a Google search at 2am and find an independent vendor that makes nothing but CF gear that was willing to help out. So if I - the consumer - can do this I see no reason why the vendor couldn't supplement their own stock using the same reasoning - sure costs may increase but I'm sure if demand was there most of the cost could be transferred directly to the consumer. I'm pretty sure I'd be willing to pay a little more for the ability to actually get something in hand in a reasonable time frame (I'm talking in weeks rather than months)

Don't get me wrong - I love 3DHS and the quality of their products - but I'm not afraid to move onto another company that can keep up stock with demands either. At the end of the day - I just love flying and I'll do what I need to do in order to maintain a few good planes that I enjoy flying (be it from the parent company or a 3rd party as long as the quality is maintained). Maybe my thinking is flawed but last time I checked the client usually drives the products...it sure does in my business and we do our best to meet demands and keep our clients happy (doesn't always happen) but without them we'd be out of business.

I'm not at all trying to stir the pot or tell anyone how to run their business, I'm just simply stating some observations and nothing more - I realize this is a plane thread so I won't pollute the waters anymore...just kind of an interesting topic with probably no easy answer...(hmmm sounds like most engineering problems...)

Swapped out the Hyperion for a Motrofly! All I need is some gear and it'll be back in the air. :)

I am very seriously considering buying one of these electric from a guy at my local field, and it is gently used. I am a little confused about what the problem with the wings is and how to fix this problem.

Search back on this thread...you'll find the info...short story is that the wing tube sockets in the wing are not glued in very well
