I think there is value in the average joe pilot video. I really learned that with the redwing this weekend. The CG was way off and Brian still made it look good. Maybe not a whole long 10 minute flight, but some of the maneuvers.

I also saw this with my Sabre X 10cc conversion. It flew ok in my hands and could do all the tricks, but Cody made it look like a gem. I could not get anyone else to fly it as they were scared of it!

Except for the part where I crashed it...good thing that never made it to video.

Well, that was a new experience... The canopy of my 58" Edge came off in flight and got stuck on the counterbalance of the rudder. I tried all sorts of maneuvers to get rid of it, but nothing worked. Let me tell you one thing: A canopy hanging off the rudder does NOT do anything good for the airflow over the tail. The rudder was almost completely disabled and the whole plane felt extremely tail heavy. It took some struggling and a few landing attempts to get it down in one piece...

glad its not in multiple pieces. any pics?

No, but several witnesses, such as AeroHeadTW. I was thinking of keeping it in the air until someone could get out a video camera, but I was pretty eager to get it down somehow. Crosswind landing with a non-functioning rudder and a tail heavy plane was NOT easy!

way to go Pontus, congrats on making a non-optional landing with very extenuating circumstances!

My 72 came down like this the other day.

It sucked in a strong cross wind.
