The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I personally cant tell much difference, but there are others who can feel 3 specs of dirt on their airplane.

We remade fixtures when a friend of mine designed an Edge to be kitted locally. It was real pitchy, so we cut off the air balance and glued it to the stab. Lots less pitchy.

Well a few weeks ago I couldn't get my biplane started. And when it tried it would kick back. Engine is a 3w106 with cactus ignition. (Rcexel basically).
Plane hsnt flown in a year. I swapped dubro tank with PAU tank and all new lines.

Well at the field I found my batts were not holding a charge as good as I like, not an issue but not brand new either. I also found a fuel leak on my fuel filter.

Today I finally got around to fixing. New filter, new batts, and it still wasn't happy. I had always known my prop was drilled just off the 1 o'clock position. I used a paint roller today to start it thinking it may backfire. Nope. It ran great. I think the prop being slightly off and me being rusty this year caused me to give weak prop flips.

Motor ran great once i dlipped it strong with the roller. New prop drilled at the 1 o'clock and I'm painting it now.

Did a little work in the shop this weekend. Started staining the base cabinets and experimenting with plane storage ideas. Not 100% happy with the way this first cabinet turned out hopefully the rest will be better but, hey it's just a freakin shop after all. :lol2:

Drilled the 29 x 12 3 blade standard and gave it a shot. Turned a solid 5650 so I think I am in the ball park. I was hoping to get to the field sometime tomorrow but, just looked at the forecast and starting at 9am all the way through 8pm scattered thunderstorms! Looks like Thursday is the earliest for a decent chance at flying.

Went out flying yesterday and had a little mishap with my Redwing 20cc Sbach Profile. By mishap I mean that I ran out of talent and altitude at the same time.:p

Bent the down tube on the Mintor 22, broke the prop and bummed up the fuse a bit. Sourced a new down tube today from Bryan at Aerographix and started repairs on the fuse. Should have a new Xoar 17x6 prop tomorrow from Great Planes. Hoping to get this baby back in the air ASAP! @Decal Dennis was having a blast with it till I goofed it up.

If I have a favorite part about being a bad pilot, it's the fact that it makes you a better builder.:D

Ouch.

Mid section of the fuse is pretty much good as new. Actually it's probably better than new!

New muffler looks much better!
