@orthobird if you go down the ZDZ route, what's your plan for mounting the engine with right-thrust? My understanding is that the PRO has no right-thrust build into firewall. I've seen people use the SWB 3deg mount with DA engines, but they don't do one to suit other makes. I'd also like to go MVVS or ZDZ so was thinking along lines of a wedge made out of hi-grade ply. I'd love to hear your opinion or that of others!
Unless ZDZ has changed their mount pattern since the days of the Super 160 (and they may have) they have the same mounting dimensions as DA 150 - 200. You just have to accomodate for the the rear carb configuration. I used to use SWB mounts with ZDZs with out issue.
 
hello Ty, I used the template from the ZDZ USA website, and it is different.

Dean was correct. The tail stock rudder servo location will not work. I will have to move them forward some.



the serve will fit well in the stock location from this side view.

However, you can see how it crosses the midline,

so both servos will not fit in that location.

Now, if i move them to here, then they will. I will have to work on making a hardwood mount for them, in this location. Now is the time to do it, since it will be easiest to do now.

Got the right side, Bird#1, fuselage sheeting done. Here it is:

Still have to do 3 more. I will not post any more pictures regarding that, unless someone has a question or wants to see something in more detail, as I will do those over the next few days.

I worked on the right side #1 Truss, to get the rudder servo mount on, using bass wood and plywood.


I made this mount, forward of where the plans call for the installation of the servo. Also, this servo will sit 1/2" higher than the stock position, and thus, the hard point on the rudder will also be shifted 1/2" up.

next step, is to glue the Truss to the balsa sheeting...
 
I want to remind everyone, that I am still on the 4th step of the Carden Manual, with regards to: "Fuselage Construction", where it says:

4. a. Build the Truss side over the Plans. (3/8” sq. and 3/8” x 1/2” Vertical Braces are pre-cut).
b. Install the Fuse Socket Supports. We line up the socket hole over the Plans and mark the Truss Sides for an accurate measurement.

(it does not state, make the fuselage side balsa sheeting and stagger them.)

c. Using the Socket Support as a guide, mark the Socket hole on the 1/8” Balsa Fuse Side. Cut the Socket hole in the 1/8” Balsa using a Circle Cutter or Dremel.

d. Properly position and glue the 1/8” Balsa Fuse Side to the Truss.


e. Trial fit the Motor Box and Fuse Sides upside down over the Top View Plan. Line up the Motor Box so F-2 matches the Top View Plan. Make sure to position the Motor Box so the Top Plate hangs over the front of your building board so the Box can sit level with the Fuse Sides.

f. Sand the taper on the front and back edge of the Fuse Side to match the Plans. Complete steps 5, 6, & 7 in this position.


The Italic is what I will do next, except, the holes will be cut out, after the balsa sheeting is glued on.
 
SO I position the truss over the sheeting, and make sure the top of the sheeting lines up flush and straight with the truss.

If you recall, earlier, it was mentioned that we want the butt to butt joints to land on one of the vertical truss sticks, and the staggered one, to do the same on another one...

after overlaying the truss, I marked where it would be...

Then, it was positioned to cover it.

Now, to glue this all on, I am using Titebond glue.

Afterwhich, I will take some pictures of the end result. I will not post any further pictures of this step, being that I have to do 3 more, however, If anyone wants me to show, in particular, any step along the way, please do not hesitate to ask, as I will be doing these over next few days.
