Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

Losing building time as I looked around for a seamstress. I think I'll just piece the fuse one piece at a time.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Would have been a lot cheaper to buy a 6” aluminum disc (future backplate) but it was fun making a mess. I paid for a photo compression app so my photo postings should increase. .

I turned the blank section to .875. Stuck it in a 7/8 collet and used it as a crude rotary table aligner.

15th Annual MMRC Spring IMAC Event May 17-18

It rains every day here recently 3 to 4 times a day and often deluge status. I don’t think we have had a day with no rain in two or three weeks.

The other end of the taper is a blank, millable. I’m going to mill it to a collet size and use the ensemble to center the rotary table.

They look much better with tricycle gear. Some choose the taildragger option for simplicity but I think tricycle looks much better.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I found out my rotary table has a MT3 tapered opening not a straight through hole. I ordered a blank millable MT3 shaft and it fits perfectly. I will mill the blank to 3/4” or so and use this in a collet as a centering device.

I built a MK Blue Angel from scratch and ended up under 8 lbs with retracts. My 6 year build thread is on RCU under ‘Another Blue Angel build’ thread.

Complexity yes, weight, not so much. Classic pattern planes of the 80’s were often 8-9 lbs and hauled the mail with a piped 60/61. I can build the same and come out under 8 lbs (with retracts).

I prefer tricycle gear on classic pattern planes. But only if they retract.
