I had a Lanier CAP 232 that was just about done. Wings sheeted and covered, fuselage done just needed a fairing at the rudder/fuselage join. A friend of mine offered to make a nice fairing for me. I put the model in the back of my truck with my engine on it but didn't tie it down. Now I had been doing this for a while with other models and never a problem. The fuselage was very tippy and didn't think much of it. A mile from the house I pulled away from a traffic light and heard a loud noise. Looking in the rear view mirror I could see my model in splinters in the intersection as it had pitched out the back of the truck landing on its back. My wife was with me and helped me pick up the pieces.

i feel your pain, i did the same thing but with eight bags of cement mix from a dump truck i was driving for a summer job! ouch!

I've not done the spin to death, but I did an elevator to flat landing, sort of by accident but can relate to the mesmerizing effects of a plane falling. One trick contest last fall in Des Moines, very little wind, climbed to well over 400' and started an elevator. Had spoilerons on so ailerons were pointed to the sky at 75% as well. Straight down. Now, the "plan" was to go spoilers off at about 40 feet and throttle up into a harrier landing at show center. I did not anticipate all wind being blocked by the buildings and flight line and my throttle up attempt gave no forward movement.

Amazing thing, I broke a prop! New prop, went back to flying for the day. Won $50 prize and spent $90 on a prop:black-eye:
