Wheel collar attachment

New to GSN!
Hello

A couple of weeks ago I maidened a new plane, without wheel pants for the first flight. One wheel came off on landing.

A fello club member gave me some advice, drill straight thru the wheel collar, axil and thru the other side of the collar and fasten it with a small cotter pin, what a great way to attach a wheel collar.

I find the center of the locking bolt for the collar and just drill a small pilot hole. Once I have just broken in slightly I will Loctite the collar bolt.

One piece aluminum shaft collars from McMaster Carr.

You will never fool with wheel collars, or loose a wheel again.

Your welcome.

:)

They are the way to go, That's all I use now. They have a 4-40 locking screw that you can really get some leverage on. I order the aluminum ones.

Brian, great idea. Do you happen to have a link for the wheel collars? I looked at the website and don't see it. Course, I am old and blind. So there ya go. LOL
