Hi everyone,



I'm trying to line up an airframe that i can use to do a video series for people new to giant scale RC or just new to RC in general. I'd like to hear from the members that are just getting started with the questions that are out there



here are a few



safety, safety, safety

tools, tools, and nothing but the tools

when is a kit an ARF and when is an ARF not a kit

five ways to swing a prop

keeping RC electrical systems simple

rc controllers

control linkages

finding help

glues to use

heat shrink covering, repairs/trimming/custom

checking and reinforcing glue joints

doing Giant Scale on a budget (buying used gear online and local)

double and triple checking everything before your first flights





etc., etc., etc.



what other questions do the new guys have that we can cover?

For me the Giant Scale list was:



1 Gas engine starting and tuning.

2 Ignition battery and cutoff systems

3 Battery power systems. Amperage limitations of standard servo connectors.

You forgot 'which oil/ratio is best.'

Servo and receiver management... even with power safe receivers, when to use redundant systems/receivers

I never did understand why some got on that soapbox. I just read the manual and followed it. Oh, and by the way I use Redline at 40.3542 to 1, and anyone who says otherwise is just plane ignorent (misspellings intended for the dense).

well, the beginners' lounge is going to be a combat free zone where the new guys can get their feet wet, meet up with each other, learn about RC, and join in with the activity of the site.



when we get to the oil conversations we'll have to also explain why it's a hot topic, with its own forum area, and why they should probably just surf past it! oil drama. who needs it?!?!?

good idea also. part of the mystery is how/why to keep things simple and when to know that it has to be more than that.
