First up I'll be epoxying all the control surfaces.

Great timing I am very close to buying a Slick or Extra this weekend!!! Just need to decide 30 or 50CC and what airframe. Leaning towards a 30 CC with DLE35RA, RW 19X8 Propeller, XQ4020 servos, Single Life pack, and Tech Aero IBEC.

I like the white strips on the bottom of the wing! This is the first I have heard of that change! What other changes were made on V2 other than extending the firewall??

Does your wing have a small carbon fiber support rod? I ask because a few users on FG have mentioned they were not installed in the slick. Another user had it installed but the factory did not cover the hole in the wingtip. 20130928_200659.jpg20130928_200640.jpg

Nothing in the Extra wings, 50cc or 30cc

Maybe bbrown2828 or Jwmav528 can speak to their 50cc and 30cc Slicks.

For the 30cc Extra, the changes for V2 (available now)

Carbon fiber stringers
Lengthened fuse for better balance/precision
High contrast underside scheme

anything else RedwingRC?

Wings and stabs epoxied together and control horns installed. The painted black horns that Redwing provided look great on the black covering.

I tape off a small square around the control horn, and then peel back when the epoxy is mostly set. This leaves a clean and finished look.

Don't forget to scuff all the horns, and also cut a little off the aileron horns, otherwise they'll poke through the other side. The rudder horns need to be trimmed also, or they won't seat full since they contact each other.

Got the rudder installed, as well as the landing gear.

I decided to use a different tail gear spring, as the included one (while perfectly fine) was a little bigger/heavier than necessary for a 30cc IMHO. I had a different one, so I used it. It and the wheel were the only pieces I swapped.

Factory gear with steel spring

Used gear that I installed.

For those used to building some other popular brands, you'll note the carbon gear mount extends beyond the rudder hinge line, and isn't required to line up in order to function correctly. Also note, the tiller needs some loctite, don't forget it!

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1409533061.014663.jpg
Just enough length on the tiller arm to put a bend at both ends, just in case :D

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1409533098.331494.jpg
Main gear was super easy, with easy access to the locknuts from above.
