I was following a discussion from another thread and had a few spare moments to trace the organizations who focus on aeromodeling in its many forms.

FAI - Fédération Aéronautique Internationale

• The World Air Sports Federation
• Non-governmental and non-profit making international organisation
• Organizational structure features Air Sport Commissions, one of which is for aeromodelling - FAI Aeromodelling Commission (CIAM)
• CIAM Model Aircraft Competition Classes

NAA - National Aeronautic Association

• Non-profit 501.c.3 organization and founding Member of FAI
• Oldest national aviation club in the U.S.A., and the U.S. representative to FAI
• The many different disciplines of flying are represented by a variety of Air Sport Organizations (ASOs)
• NAA founded or helped form many of the ASOs, one of which is aeromodeling
• NAA recognizes AMA as "oversees the sport of aeromodeling"

• Self-supporting, non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote development of model aviation as a recognized sport and worthwhile recreation activity
