Aerotech 55% extra 260 SORT OF BUILD THREAD ???

Ok this is another "SORT OF BUILD TREAD" but not cuz of what you think. Its cuz I got the plane about 50% built and no thread was ever started anywhere .

I was contracted to complete the build and cover it or get it to ARF stage . so this will be fun :smile-new:

The plane is BIG . When i got it the fuselage was framed up and the belly and turtle decks were sheeted. The tail was mostly done the wings were not and thats where most of my build is going to focus.

Just for fun I parked my 1/4 scale cub with tundra tires in front of it and it fits under the motor mount

On the left side of the fuse i added a HATCH that will make it easy to install the tailwheel , servo wires ect.

I think you can store a foamy in there :jaded:

Fuselage needed to have some strength added to it . I think there was more than one of these come apart :upset:

So what we came up with as a retrofit. Which was to add some aircraft grade spruce as a doubler on the longerons to top and bottom.

Time will tell if that was the way to go :smile-new:

This Is a sound design but as with all aircraft they can be overstressed :yes-i-fully-agree-s

Today I did some putzen with the wings . Do to the size of the wings I had to get creative when it came time to cut out the ailerons. Ok I went CAVE MAN STYLE :banana-dancing-with

First I didn't have a straight edge long enough :upset: so looking around I found a set of rear spars for a 2/3 scale plane then I getz to thinken :stupid: close enough.

So clamp one to the top and the other to the not top and getz the caveman tool of choice ( last century caveman) hacksaw blade and went to work . this realy didn't take too long other than I probably set aviation back 50 years. but it worked :topsy_turvy:

Playing with the hinges for the ailerons and elevator

first the elevator I was able to get 47.2 degrees and the ailerons 43.0 hope thats enough :smile-new:

Here is a little tip I use tennis balls on the landing gear it keeps the carbon fiber from chipping and it works good on aluminum gear just as well so you don't damage things you run into when moving the plane around. :dancing-poop:
