I honestly had the same issues. It was until I got mad and basically in anger bitch slapped the prop thru compression and it fired immediately. I knew it was all about the speed of the flip!! It works everytime now!! I have zero issues getting it started now and it will only get better as I burn...- HELLFIRE

I used to have the same hard starting issues till i put a thick glove on and give the prop a good slap thru compression. It usually only takes 2-3 flips on choke to get it to pop then another 2-4 flips and its running. Everytime since I started flipping(slapping the prop) thru with authority...- HELLFIRE

Try turning the prop thru compression and listen close to the sparkplug boot if you hear a little snap it is sparking you just may not see it. Geno and I are running Daves Proflow Cans on our DA 120's and we registered 91.4 db amazingly with both a 29x9 and 27x11 Falcon Carbon props. I think the smooth pipes are around the same sound level but being a pipe it will rip the props at higher rpm causing it to be louder. This was at 25ft on...- HELLFIRE

I just maidened my 3DHS 74" Edge 540 with the VVRC 40 Twin yesterday and it was awesome. It was a little hard to start for the first time but I think I found the soultion because now I can start it on command. 1 or 2 flips. This little engine really needs to see some rpms when flipping.
