Most balsa you find these days is the soft punky stuff. Even below C grade wood. It is very hard to find the hard grades where strength is required.

Exactly. When I needed some wood for my Phaeton I would look at about 10 pieces before finding one that I liked. It needs to be Sig or Midwest or something like that. Hobby Lobby only sells the soft stuff, which can be used for some things but not much.

I've allways liked the Midwest balsa I got from the LHS. I can still find some around when I'm looking.

Of course I wasn't talking about age Pam.

Started getting notifications again.

I had to look back a few posts about the age comment. Lol.

It does seem like the Midwest balsa has always been the better I have found. What I don't know is Midwest still making balsa? I guess I could google it to see.

I just finished ordering the stuff I will need to build the Big Carbon Cub. Luckily I have most of what I needed so I just picked up four Savox 1270 servos to add to the four I have on hand. Also got an ignition shut off, 14ch RX, and a couple other goodies. I checked with AMR today and they have place my order with Aeroworks for the plane and accessories.

This is post 201 to put me over the top to 120cc pilot before I head to bed. Back on shift for the next nine days. :(

Hey I got ripped off, it never changed. I expected the change at 200. Oh well, off to bed, 4:30 comes early.
