Damn I'm hungry
Talking about technical programming stuff just read through the Arora8 info in the plane manual and did not take long I was lost. It will get better I hope when I read the Arora8 manual and have it all in front of me but right now i am like a deer in the headlights.
The one thing that has me completely confused is that they say do not trim the radio leave it at zero all the trimming is done in the Arora8. How is that possible if you stand in front of the plane with radio on and you need trim a certain surface, how do get to Arora8 to make the trim.

Ok Snoop this where it can look complicated but it's not.....

You are setting up the transmitter to operate with the Aura 8. Best to select a new "Model" in your radio to set up. In your radio set your wing and tail configuration to it's most 'Basic" set up it will allow (one aileron servo, one elevator servo, one rudder servo). You then set all the channels that control flight surfaces to a volume of 125% both directions ie up/dn . Set all sub trims to zero. Set the throttle and gear channels to 100% volume. The reason only 100% is because these channels are not "centered" like the sticks that control ele/ail/rud.
Make sure no mixes are active and that no dual rates and expo is set up in the radio. All this is set up inside the Aura 8 and is why you need the configuration tool to see the setup of the Aura 8 or to load a preset configuration as I earlier suggested.

Thanks for that , still building the plane but looking at the Aura8 when I get a chance. Thanks for the info on one aileron servo and one elevator servo I would have gotten that wrong. So what a you are saying is that the Aura deals with the matching of the aileron and elevator servos. So to match travel and end points and direction that is done by the Aura8. When I get a chance I need to get into the Aura8 site and start looking at it all. Thanks again.

Essentially, the Aura8 handles all functions of the airplane, it only needs the most basic of input signals to tell the servos what to do. That's how most of these higher end gyros are regardless of brand. They only need to see 4 or 5 channel inputs from the transmitter.

Spent a lot of time to day about 6 hours reading everything from A to Z on the Aura8. All of it making a lot more sense. It is going to take quite some time to get it all set up but I think I have better understanding of the unit. Now all I have to do is hook it all up and see if I can get all to work. The only concern I have right now is the way you need to set up radio is with everything at zero . In this configuration how difficult will be to fly the plane with it shut down it could be difficult.

You can add a bit more expo via your Transmitter (up to 20%) but when you set the Aura servo ports up you actually set the travel and expo there. You also select if the servo you are using is analog or digital. Reversing is done here too (All servo directions should be set in your radio to "normal" with the exception of the throttle servo. It may need to be reversed depending what brand radio you have). Basically everything you would normally do in your computer radio is done with the Aura 8 instead. So not to worry about that first flight with the Aura turned off. You will have set expo and travel rates with all 3 positions of the 3 position switch (normally gear channel 5) which are......

Position 1- Gyro off low rates xx amount of expo.
Position 2- Gyro on low rates xx amount of expo. (low gyro gain)
Position 3- Gyro on High rates xx amount of expo.(high gyro gain)

Typical servo ports are set as follows on the Aura 8 when you have selected the wing and tail configurations for your plane (usually 2 ail
2 ele 1 rudder for a "blank" configuration). This is found on the first page of the "Aura tool" under "Setup". Here you will also set up how the Aura 8 is physically oriented inside your plane and how the Aura is getting connected to your Rx. Servo port ID I am showing is associated with a S Bus or SRXL connection from your Rx to Aura 8.

S-1....Throttle
S-2....L Aileron
S-3....R Aileron
S-4....L Elevator
S-5....R Elevator
S-6....Rudder
S-7....Open
S-8....Open
Keep in mind you need not assign throttle in the Aura 8 and just plug the throttle servo directly to the Rx. This will free up additional ports for more flight surface servos for larger airframes ie 35% and larger and will allow you to use throttle management such as curves, idle up, and mixing in your radio. Other devices like IBEC's, Smoke pumps etc should be plugged directly to the Rx as well.
Have you downloaded the tool to your computer yet?

Thanks for the help and support. Had difficulties finding the program stuff for the Yak 54 35cc. Tried to load it but it would not I will try again later today or tomorrow no not tomorrow I will be flying Sunday so it will have wait for Monday. Man just do not have a enough hours in a day.

Not airplane related, but it is what I did in my Workshop today.
A 68 Super Sport Nova we've been restoring for way to long, but it's getting really close now. Still have some trim and things to install, and waiting for the guy to bring the wheels and tires.
