Pilot 40% 330 Recover and Build

I like 'em "BIG"!
At long last, I am closing in on the home stretch. Now that the painting and clear coating is done, I can now finish the cockpit and install my Green Dude! No Kelly, he is not an alien. Moreover a "G Force" pilot bust that seems as though he'd been looking for this ride for a long time. It's (the 330) just almost done.

I tried Doug's idea. Using my Zep glass cleaner and then a quick wipe off with pure water. Lastly, I used a tack cloth to make certain no fibers or dust was left behind. Of course I tested everything with my scrap masking paper. No reaction to that so I felt confident the painted surfaces were safe. One real light coat of clear. Then a heavier coat. And finally, the last "wet" heavy coat. (Not so heavy it would run) But you all got that. I waited about ten minutes after the final coat of clear and removed all the making paper. All I can say is, I am very pleased.

It was explained to me that the clear would not look perfectly glass smooth until the catalyst had a chance to harden. I remembered this from my Pitts. It turned out gorgeous. No reason this won't as well.

I can now take a break for a few days while the clear cures. After that, a quick cover job on the canopy/hatch, install the graphix dash panel and lastly my pilot.

I may.... maybe, assemble it all Saturday just to get some warm fuzzies. I feel I've earned them with this project.

Still more to come...

I see why you a proud of it does look good and once again that is one fine looking pilot. Just have to add a dash and that part will be done. It not going to be long before this bird is in the air., just hope the weather cooperates when it is done .

Yup, the cockpit is on the agenda for tonight. I just had to put him in for a minute to see what he'd look like. Weather should not be a problem. But knowing my luck, we will probably get hit with a tornado. Lmao.
