It is indeed a wonderful place to fly. It’s about an hour and 15 minute drive from me but I try to make it up there at least a couple times per year.
Yeah Mike was there a couple of years ago to witness a failure in a weak spot of the tail rotor drive system of my Trex550e followed by a failure of the next weakest spot which was my piloting skills, causing the helicopter to pile drive into the grass runway. ;)

Ha! I almost forgot about that. To your credit, it’s still the most terrific helicopter crash I’ve ever witnessed. I felt it in my feet when that thing impacted the ground!

It was a mighty thud! I was amazed that it was not in small pieces scattered everywhere. It left a divot in the ground.

But it lived it fly again, after $300 and some time. I even repaired that canopy and changed the scheme.

I like 'em "BIG"!
It is always nice to go out and fly with good friends. Not so sure I would enjoy the thud! I try very hard to stay away from those. LOL.

It was an absolutely picture perfect day here in the Boise Valley. Light winds 0 to 3 mile per hour. Very low humidity and the temperature was around 70 to 75 degrees first thing this morning. My son and I made it out to the field for some round plane flying. Somehow a Yak and a Sukhoi just look really cool together in the air. Especially if their noses are pointed straight up and their side by side.

The mighty dub powered Sukhoi performed flawlessly. And that 3w 170, just wow! I think my son and I spend as much time talking and chit-chatting as we do flying. But we sure do have a great time. I'm very thankful to have a flying pal like him.

Damn I'm hungry
It's just to miserably hot and humid. By the time early to mid evening rolls in (best time to fly a couple of times) so do the afternoon t-storms. For the past 3 weeks you can bank on it raining a bit in the afternoon spoiling what little chance I may have :(.
@stangflyer the weather in Boise Valley seems PERFECT. Suck as much of it in as you can and ENJOY. I know I'm getting closer to a time where flying is just not going to be part of the equation. Sucks knowing this. Just like when I realized women are no longer interested in
me :ugh:. At least I have my little buddy to care for and clean up after :dancing-poop:. "Glory Days" :banana-dance:

Well had a great time at the field with my 50cc profile. The new aluminum landing gear worked out great just love the plane now everything is as I would like it. All I have to do is some minor tuning and many flights to get use to it and know all the finer points of flying it. But so far this project is a success

Huckin' the little guy at the local school field last night. Been wanting to upgrade to a Phoenix Edge Lite 50 ESC so I can program the BEC to 6.5 volts to give the servos a boost in power. 5.5v works for most, but getting blowback when you're trying to crank it up isn't the most fun :oblong::confused:

Also made the decision to jump to 4S power after flying last night. Changing to an 11x5.5 from a 13x6.5 prop dropped my amps from 54a and 630w on 3S to 47a and 750w on 4S :yesss: She aughta cook now!!!! My 3s 2200 packs were only giving me about 4 minutes of flying, hoping to jump back up to 6 now.

I'm still only managing 5 minutes of flight time, but now there's nearly 2x the power on 4s 2200's. The extra weight didn't seem to bother it either. At least I have 2 options now- run a larger prop and a 2700mah 3S pack for flight times, or run a smaller prop on 4s 2200's and get screaming power. :epic:
