Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

stangflyer

I like 'em "BIG"!
That Kavan 50 is almost 6 pounds. A DA 70 is under 4 lbs. Although that might not include the muffler.
True, but it is the hardware (valves, pushrods, camshaft, etc) that makes the difference. Still, if memory serves, does the Cub not need a little extra weight due to the short stubby nose? See, I don't know. But that is what I was told. It took an 18 wheeler full of weights to balance the Pitts with the 3w 70 twin up front. But still worth it.

So your build has me motivated now. A club member gave me his old world models 1/4 scale clipped wing club about six months ago after a crash knocked the firewall and landing gear out from under it. Also bent the wing tubes and broke the cowl and canopy. I’m gonna do a basic repair on it, slap my VVRC 40cc twin on it, and go fly it. If I like the way it flys then I’m gonna rip it back apart, start making some mods to it (mainly its built heavy), buy and new cowl and canopy, then cover it all nice and pretty. I’m sure the 40 twin should yank it around pretty good.
