Damn I'm hungry
Boy that is a neat idea using the muffler as mounting plate for the motor. The only thing I can see is getting that muffler into a fuselage. That can make life a little interesting.

I agree there buddy. The good news is I don't have to worry about that. But what I have seen of my friends Byron P-47 is; the brackets that hold the muffler get bolted to formers in the fuse and cowl and the muffler really does act as the motor mount. Basicly bowls down to just three bolts holding the muffler and engine in place inside the plane! Don't know as if I really like that but it is what it is.....a Byron Originals.

The machined spacer you see acts as a "spacer" only in the configuration of direct engine prop drive. I believe the machined slots in it were for the belt drive prop versions. The crankshaft extends outside the back of the mustang 50 for that application.

Finally got my Aeroplus Edge all buttoned up ready for the maiden maybe tomorrow weather dependant.
Today I ran another tank through the VVRC 20cc it seemed start running alot better a good strong idle. I had to make a couple small tweaks to the high speed needle. I also did all the radio set up with the new Futaba had a small learning curve to get over with the duel rates and throw adjustment but not to bad at all. I'm really digging the radio more and more. Last thing I did was went over all the nuts bolts and joint to make sure I didn't leave anything loose. Finally got it down stairs and put it on the Vanessa rig and balanced the plane. The recommnded CG is 3.5in seems a little to far forward we will see though. The plane balanced well I added 1oz of led to the firewall. The AUW of the plane came out to just under 7.5lbs. I can't wait to get the first flight on it.
That looks great good luck with the first flight. You came in nice and light. That is going be one nice aeroplane. Like your CG machine.

Good work Travis, I’ve never seen that CG machine before... pretty unique. Just shoot for the center of lift and critique after you maiden it. Good looking plane! That VVRC 20cc is a good running engine for its size class. Looking forward to you maiden report!
