What book or reference are you using to get started in 3D cad. I know you have AutoCAD, so do I but to get the first steps is the hard part.

So I’ve been doing a lot of research and there are free programs out there. I’m starting to learn on
Design Spark Mechanical
100% free

Another open source that’s we based is OnShape, but people can see everything you’re creating unless you pay a bunch.

Fusion 360 has a student version but it’s limited

Design Spark Mechanical I’m liking. But still learning.

There are lots of you tube tutorials out there for all of them. I subscribed to onshape and downloaded design spark mechanical. I tired blender for a bit, but I don’t like the layout. Meant for animation.

Hagar 9 PA-18 super cub assembled for my buddies hobby shop ceiling art. Hoping one day to fly this one, kinda sad to see a beauty just hang.

Balancing out the 74” edge, couple A123’s in the box will make it balance the back side of the wing tube empty. Manual calls for just in front of the wingtube. This plane would be a good candidate for smoke....

Okay... balances in the middle of the tube empty like this lol

My shop has floor heat in it, and I really like it. It is very comfortable to work in. It can be 0 degrees out, and I can work in 65-70 degrees inside. I highly recommend it.

I just got a major upgrade to my shop the other day. Something I have been wanting and needing for my business for some time now. I bit the bullet and bought a CNC Router. Although the price really hurts, it is so cool how quick and accurate they are. I have been able to do a couple small jobs with it. Still have a lot to learn, but it hasn't been as hard as I first thought it would be. The first pic is my router, and the other two are a sample sign that I cut, and a small cabinet nest I cut getting my software all set up. That is what I have been doing in my shop lately. No airplane stuff because I am not building anything this winter, just going to fly what I have.
Hi ericrs looks like you have been very busy spending money. Man that thing looks great you can really put some planes on that. All the beast.

That plane came out a little tail heavy. But with a little work it looks like you can get it to balance with out adding dead weight. Or fist put nice big red head in the plane and a little bigger that will solve your problem.

Ok I have done it found my GP Extra 330L 33% kit that was purchased more than 10 years ago. Was cleaning up the shop and making space and throwing out old stuff that I will never use. Found the kit and have been staring at it for a few days. Found the drawings and the manual, read through the manual it is quite the build like the old days. Looked at the drawings cut them up and taped them together to make the full fuselage. Looking pretty good. Looks like with some rather big changes it can be made into a pretty good 3D machine I hope. But for sure it will keep me of the street for a long time. Measured the wing it is 101 inches. Pretty good size if it can be built for under 24 lbs with DA100L belive it should be ok for weight and size for some good tail dragging as @stangflyer would say. One the fuselage does look big and round almost like a P47. Looks like I am going to build the planes.

Damn I'm hungry
SO is this an old rebalance? Its the same as mine in a different scheme, curious about the flight report with the CG.

Yes it is a rebalance but exactly the way and on the cg location he had it previous. Two 3000mah lipo packs (power everything) mounted next to engine up front and removed the old rx pack, ignition pack (spectrum 3800mah life and 2000mah lipo ignition pack inside motor box) and 7oz of dead weight located at where the new bats are now. He also flies this with that Aura 8 gyro. Plane does real good with it from what I have seen and flown. Little or no wing rock and very very stable in harriers and KE. The procedure was to eliminate some weight and increase the number of flights he could get on a single charge. The difference in battery weights actually made what was removed about 6oz's.

Sweet! Let's get a build thread started. :yesss:
