I am "looking" also.....just heard JRAmerica filed for bankruptcy, so that eliminates that radio from contention......my field has had a lot of ???? when it comes to Spektrum so I'm leaning toward Futaba but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

JR America didn't file for bankruptcy the Japanese parent company did and transferred production and rights to another company.

I received the 16sz a week or so ago, although I have not flown with it yet I have been reading and going through the programming on my Edge 540. I have to say I really like it, the programming is super intuitive and hasn't been a far departure from my experience with Spektrum and Graupner. I think I made the right choice. The one thing I could say negative about it is it does "look" like an inexpensive radio because of the all black but it certainly doesn't feel that way in the hand. Thanks all for the info and the help on my decision.

Thanks for keeping us up date for me that is important because I am still looking. Glad you are happy with the radio. Keep us informed how it programmes and how steep is the learning curve. Looks doesn’t matter it’s all about how well or how easy it is to use, feel of the sticks and it is well connected to the plane.

I too am on fence. Waiting for Futaba to catch up with the times because I have been with them for over 40 years and not about to change because of total reliability over all those years. I am using my 14sg on 16 planes now and may update it someday but want to wait for the 18's to be updated as they have been around for a while I am looking for better quality gimbals than what I have. My 14sg is so cheap used now it is no longer worth selling.

I really feel a bit like a traitor because I just bought a Frysky radio for my boy because....if you fly quads.....this is the way to go. Must admit however that I am already planning to "borrow" it from him for other applications. There is so many micro choices for cheap receivers. My Discuss Launch Glider will benefit from all the setup configurations out there. Seems like the community is much more active and sharing on the software side. My buddy just let me play with his new Frysky Horus X10s. It is a beautiful piece and it was like being tempted by the devil. If Frysky ever builds up the reliability, quality and reputation up to Futaba levels...... it will not be pretty for Futaba.

Not to mention the new 14ch receiver is not supposed to be available until February... so no 14ch receivers are even available unless you bind two 7ch rx’s... frustrating. I love the reliability on my Futaba gear, but like JR, seems like productivity has slowed down when it comes to keeping up with Spectrum. I do feel that Futaba makes a quality product, just don’t know what to think of their distributer (hobbico) during their financial hardships as well. I’d like to see a wise business decision come from Futaba or hobbico in the near future so us dedicated supporters don’t have to abandon ship on a good product. Just need some good news please!?!?

It is becoming very difficult to buy a radio. I am a true JR believer but the company it self that developed the product is gone. Futaba is not with the times and Spectrum well I had better just not say, why is nobody looking at Jeti or commenting on the product.
