So the last couple of evenings I've been working on getting the wing saddle to fit the wing properly. Well it has been fun to say the least lol. Back and forth, back and forth, I get the incidence right and then the wing is leaning to one side, get that fixed and then the incidence is wrong errrrrrrrr.... lol

So anyway, I finally got the wing sitting square in the saddle and +1 degree of incidence but the saddle looked like crap with all the shims and carve marks ect. to fix it and take up the last little bits of gap and make fit nice and clean and tight, I mixed up some Micro Balloons and 15 minute Epoxy and smeared a coat of it on the saddle, then with the wing wrapped in wax paper I pushed the wing down into the saddle. After it cured I removed the wing and cleaned up the squeeze out. Now the wing fits reeeeeeeeally good!!

Cleaned up the squeeze out with a sanding block, but forgot to wear a dusk mask.... My mouth feels like it's full of sand, got to love micro balloons!!

Worked on finishing the wing mount this evening, sorry no pictures as my phone was acting up so I'll take plenty tomorrow :) Had to do some cutting and modifying the fuse around the leading edge of the wing, nothing to drastic just needed to change the shape a bit. Also need to make those changes on the plans, guys don't let me forget to do that! lol

Okay so got the front bottom wing mount and fillet done. I used a 1/2" thick piece of spruce as the mount block and 7/32" x .014" Brass tube as the wing pins. The block was glued in with some spruce triangle stock between the fuse lite-ply doublers behind F2.

I had to remove the stringers between F2 and the Firewall when I shortened the bottom of the fire wall. Next I put the wing in the saddle and pushed some epoxy and micro balloons into the leading edge, and used a piece of 1/4" balsa wrapped in wax paper wo push the epoxy and micro into all the nooks and crannies and to form it around the leading edge.

When that cured I glued a piece of 1/4" balsa on the bottom of the nose, back to the leading edge fillet, beveled it on the aft end and rounded the forward portion.

Epoxy and Micro Balloons have become a MUST with this build!!! ;)

Really glad I remembered to put some petroleum jelly of the wing pins!! I have a small gap I need to fill between the block and the fuse doubler.

When the wing is in the saddle. You have to put the leading edge down first and slide the wing forward until the pins engage in the block, and then slide the TE down.

Yup, epoxy and micro balloons... My favorite thing in the world, don't think I could get a good wing saddle seat without it! lol

Just need to put the wing bolt block in and drill the hole for the wing bolts, followed by the rear wing fillet. Then it's on to the landing gear.
